Vintage Courreges top with black classic Ferragamo slacks…

I just died when I saw the Courreges label, just died right there inside the thrift store – I mean killed over!  This label I rarely find inside a thrift store, it’s highly collectable.  This label is being ‘reborn’ and it comes at no better time.  The French fashion house, whose founder Andre Courreges claims to have invented the miniskirt, forms a triumvirate of dormant French brands-along with Thierry Mugler and Paco Rabanne-to be awoken this year…Designer Victoria Beckham- a serious Courreges fan- will not be the only one delighted to hear that the new site will also retail unSOLD merchandise rescued from the company’s inventory of unsold stock.  This is the sweetest news one could ever ask for.  This Courreges vintage sweater vest looks amazing with these black Ferragamo slacks.  I married a French top(Courreges) with an Italian bottom (Ferragamo) and the union couldn’t be more blissful than this…  Stop by Doubletake and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too….toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Good Day Atlanta Fox 5: A New Wardrobe for Less than $100…

This is one of my proudest moments so thank you Karen Graham & Anedria Brown…

A letter came into our newsroom recently. It was from a woman who found herself in a familiar predicament — new city, new job, old wardrobe. And without a big budget to make big fashion changes, Anedria Brown needed help. We knew exactly who to call.

When Anedria Brown moved to Atlanta from Chicago two years ago it was a much-needed change in her life. What she didn’t realize was it would also require a drastic change of wardrobe.

So with the help of thrift guru Daniel Troppy we gave brown a bargain she didn’t quite bargain for.

2 LBDresses: Dina Bar-El & Piazza Sempione….

I 1st grabbed the Piazza Sempione dress and smiled and then under 60 seconds I grabbed the Dina Bar-El black dress.  It was back to back and that simple.  I love it when things like that happen to me, I mean really love it.  What I do is everyday hunt to reclaim & salvage luxury pieces either in thrift stores or estate sales so that I can first blog about them and secondly pass them on to my clients.  These 2 luxury brands are STYLISH to say the less but also they are brands that love to create timeless pieces that will have a long long shelf life.  If you are going to spend your $$$ today make sure that the piece you purchase can stand the test of time and these 2 LBDresses not only do that and then some!  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too…toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Pink Trina Turk top with white Lafayette 148 New York sweater…

It must have been my lucky day because once I picked up the Trina Turk pink top – I immediately picked up the white Lafayette 148 lightweight sweater.  Boom Boom just like that.  Trina Turk not only designs clothes but also housewares, paper, pillows, towels, bedding, sunglass cases and table tops not to mention handbags, jewelry and accessories.  She is one modern lady with a mission and that is to make our lives pop with bold playful colors and a find example would have to be this pink Trina Turk top.  I’m loving this lightweight Lafayette 148 New York sweater because it does add a nice tasteful touch to the Trina Turk top.  There is always room in the closet for lightweight sweaters or at least there should be.  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too…toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

I just keep thinking it will turn out to be designed by Ettore Sottsass….

I snagged this super STYLISH and cool adjustable table with light at a thrift store awhile back and paid $10.  I turned it over and practically inside out looking for any kind of label and found nothing.  I just keep thinking 1 day I’ll confirm it was designed by Ettore Sottsass and when that happens I’ll pop open a nice bubbly and celebrate.  Ettore Sottsass started the Memphis Movement which was an Italian design & architectural group that designed Post Modern furniture, fabrics, ceramics, metal & glass objects from 1981-1987.  This table is so super fly and I love it in my bedroom but my yearning to know the maker of this table is driving me crazyyyyy or shall I say crazier….. That’s why I posted on my blog for the pure chance that someone out there might know the maker and help me sleep better at night….  Even if it isn’t Ettore Sottsass I won’t take it back to the thrift store oh no, it has far to much STYLE and intrigue for me to do that.  At the end of the day it all comes down to substance and this table has that and then some.

0039 Italy paisley blouse with Emporio Armani heels…

Simply select 0039, and you’re in Italy! And this was also Rachid Bourak and Aysen Bourak Bitzer, who founded the label in 2001, 0039 Italy. The name comes from the prefix and the name of Italy. Since then, the two design stylish and timeless fashion of precious materials such as silk or linen. Strong colors, pastels and ethnic prints convey the real Italian lifestyle. Authentic: Produced is used exclusively in Italy and Portugal and also the materials from the land of ripe tomatoes andvineyards. A little piece of Italy for all of us! I love this paisley blouse, it will never ever go out of STYLE.  Speaking of Italy where would the world be without Armani heaven forbid???  These low heel Emporio Armani are classic and timeless as well as the paisley print.  Good taste and good design never go out of STYLE.  Please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too…toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.   Daniel your luxury curator!

Elizabeth & James top….ouch

I have made no bones about the fact that I despise the Olsen twins for their overuse of FUR and will always continue to do so until they decide to step into the 21st century and leave the FUR behind where it belongs which is the 19th century.  If there is one thing about me that you’ll soon find out, I am passionate and relentless.  I’ve had people ask me why I don’t like FUR and yet wear leather shoes and I’ll be honest with you, I’m not militant, I just don’t like FUR and the fact that people are wearing a dead friggin animal.  Not only is that just gross it’s tacky.  Off my soap box and into the facts: Ashley & Mary-Kate Olsen launched Elizabeth & James in 2007 and it was named after 2 of their siblings.  Back on my soap box: in the winter you’ll always see the Olsen twins out and about wearing some kind of ratty FUR to some event.  Off on my soap box, this gray Elizabeth & James top I found inside the thrift store solo on a rack, a real metaphor I would have to guess as the life of the Olsen twins…. Now don’t beat me up for this posting guys, I just like to lay down my feelings….  Olsen twins you can friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter if you like…. toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Coral Natette Lepore top with classic black wool Piazza Sempione slacks…

Nanette Lepore is unabashedly – not afraid of color and I knew instantly when I spotted this top on the racks that it very well could be a Nanette Lepore piece, and I was right.  Nanette Lepore LOVES color and mixing prints & patterns, she is bold and daring, I like that in a fashion designer.  Since my background is art I appreciate her color palette as well as her fearlessness and most importantly her tailoring.  Plucking this coral piece off the racks and into my basket I continued to shop and next stop the slacks department!  Yes even thrift stores have departments…. I can’t think of a better match than these Piazza Sempione black wool slacks with the coral Nanette Lepore top.  Now I ask you this, if you saw a woman walking down the street in this ensemble would you even think it came from a thrift store?  No and why should you…  What I did was salvage these 2 pieces and bought them together to spotlight the fact that STYLE is possible second hand.  Oh I love shopping ‘eco friendly’ it’s the only way to shop.  Friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too….toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

My very 1st piece of Comme des Garcons ….

I had a little leakage at the thrift store when I came across this label.  OMG I just couldn’t believe my eyes and the funny thing is that this shirt / jacket was actually in the women’s section of the thrift store, so it pays to look everywhere.  This is a label I’ve lusted after for decades because the designer behind the label, Rei Kawakubo, is the ultimate artist in my opinion.  Comme des Garcons (French for “like boys”) has grown to become 1 of Japan’s biggest fashion designers.  Started in 1969 by Kei Kawakubo in Tokyo and debut in Paris in 1981.  Comme des Garcons was a popular line that often took on the notion of color & sex-appeal in clothing, as had Issey Miyake & Yohji Yamamoto during the same time period.  I will wear this shirt / jacket until the day I drop and then I’ll be cremated in it!  When you stop by Doubletake in Atlanta you’ll see a lot of fabulous STYLISH clothes but you won’t see this on the racks!  Please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too….toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Tan Max Mara sleeve less top with very modern Cynthia Steffe black jacket….

Shaun Kearney is the creative force behind the Cynthia Steffe label and if you could  see the details on this black jacket you would know what I mean when I say creative force!  This Cynthia Steffe jacket is so beyond modern and contemporary I can’t contain myself.  This jacket is very French street savvy and when I paired it with this classic tan wool sleeve less top by Max Mara  it sure does look like it’s French street savvy.  The funny thing is that both brands aren’t even French but you get my drift…  I can easily see some French lovely woman walking down the streets of Paris wearing this jacket and this top with the coolest pair of Lanvin slacks and Roger Vivier shoes.   I love things that are simple chic and yet can make one turn their head in your direction.  Stop by Doubletake and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too….toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Pink Diane von Furstenberg top with navy St John skirt….

Finding really simple well tailored designs always stands the test of time, it doesn’t matter if it was last season or last decade, good design is always good design.  Let me just say I have always hated ‘trends’.. I know hate is a strong word but seriously I really do hate when I hear the word ‘trend’, I mean who in the hell do they think we are to buy such BS?  1 thing I’ve never been was a sheep so I always try to convey that in my blog, women don’t be sheep, if anything be the wolf.  So I don’t know when this gorgeous pink DVF top was designed but I don’t give a rats%$# about that or when the navy St John skirt was designed either.  Who cares?  I know the magazine people want you to care about that but I say piss off !  If it looks great on you then wear it out and arch your back &  stand talk.  Only the small and narrow minded people know the season and if they are wrapped up in such petty BS then I say grab your Birkin bag, point those Louboutin north and walk on.  You are better than that!  I just love my women readers and want you all to have all the self confidence Mother Nature intended.  Stop by Doubletake and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too……toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!
