I am so drawn to vintage Pringle of Scotland and when I saw this button knit top all I could just stand there and grin. I love this old iconic brand that was founded in 1815 at the birthplace of the Scottish knitwear industry. This brand is an ultra luxurious company that started knitting cashmere back in the 1870′s, so they have it down. When you see this label at an estate sale, yard sale or thrift store GRAB it and run. So as I walked around the thrift store with the Pringle of Scotland top in my right arm, I said “thrifter you need luxurious slacks to crank this ensemble up” and low and behold look what I stumbled upon, Krizia made in Italy black stretch slacks… Cha-Ching. Mariuccia Mandelli, the founder and creative director of Krizia, won the Fashion Critic’s Award in 1964 at the time of her 1st runway show. The label, Krizia, a name borrowed from Plato’s dialogue on feminine vanity, always includes an animal as a lucky charm in each of their collections. Her fashion is also influenced by contemporary art, a search for new materials, as well as her signature fabric pleating. This vintage Pringle of Scotland top with these black stretch Krizia slacks just won The Thrifters 2011 Award for Chic-ness! Something must be in the air because I just found a vintage Pringle of Scotland top and now I found this silk blouse by Christian Dior and so what do I say but ‘keep it coming boys’….. You know I love my vintage and I can’t stress it enough that every woman have certain vintage pieces inside her closet to truly complete any wardrobe. A vintage Dior will NEVER go out of STYLE, it just won’t. It’s a very safe bet ladies. Christian Dior was one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. After Dior’s death in 1958, his assistant, Yves Saint Laurent, became the head designer at Dior. This label just reeks of chic-ness. I’m loving this vintage silk Dior blouse I found and what better to pair it with other than a pair of Piazza Sempione slacks? Right. Offering timeless pieces that fit like they were custom-made, Piazza Sempione’s collections deserve a place in every women’s wardrobe. Founded in Milan in 1991, this refined label represents Italian tailoring at its finest, boasting exceptional pieces that benefit from extraordinary attention to detail. These 2 items are a match made in heaven or at least in my eyes, and my eyes see everything! When I was very young I used to save all my great treasures for that special occasion but today I have thrown that old habit out with the bath water. No longer do I keep my favorite cologne unused or my favorite jacket tucked in the back of the closet, gone is that logic where tomorrow will be better than today. I no longer feel that I have to ‘save’ for that special day or occasion because today is the only day. I could die in car crash or shot point blank (I’ve been watching to much of American Horror Story on FX) so I use and wear things as if I’m going to party like it’s 1999. I believe every woman should wear Valentino everyday, every moment, not just for that special occasion. It’s always a rare treat when I find Valentino but always a good one and I love this plaid ruffled blouse by Theory. When I present this outfit to my clients I will tell them that they should wear their favorite pair of black boots with pointed heels with this ensemble and go to Whole Foods to grocery shop and not to save this Valentino skirt for ‘that special occasion’. You know me when I see a LBD I snatch it right up because I believe you can’t have enough LBDresses hanging in your closet. I scored these 2 lovely LBDresses within minutes of each other: ABS by Allen Schwartz & Nicole Miller. ABS by Allen Schwartz is the trendsetting Los Angeles-based sportswear and dress company that offers luxurious design to the contemporary woman, and proves that you can wear the latest trends and look fabulous whether at work or play. Nicole Miller uses the work of renowned architects and industrial designers as a source for her inspiration which makes sense when you see her construction up close and personal. Both Allen Schwartz & Nicole Miller are 2 of America’s finest fashion designers so stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta to see them both. This long champagne color skirt by Costume National was hanging up in the dress section of the thrift store so when I saw it hanging on a hanger amongst the dresses I thought “I’ll just take it and put it back in the skirt section but let me check the label first….” That loud noise you just heard was me screaming when I saw the label. Everything almost fell out! This is a label I have never seen inside a thrift store, never. Costume National creative director is Ennio Capasa and his punchy minimalistic collection are always well received and praised. Every piece from each collection is a piece of art all itself, so modern so fresh and always so well tailored. His men’s collection makes me drool all over myself and I hate when I do that. So I love the color and length of this skirt and what better jacket to pair this skirt with other than this velvet Basler made in Germany?? I can’t think of one either. This is a perfect union and so chic… velvet is always STYLISH and this jacket with it’s modern touch really elevates this long skirt to it’s full potential. I was raised on a farm in south Texas and loving on animals just came natural to me. My mom will tell you that my brother Darrell and I loved our animals so much that when they gave birth to their litters we would stay up all night with them and when they died we took it so hard we wept for days. I can’t think of anything more STYLISH than to pamper your animals and for all of you out that are doing your last minute Christmas shopping let me please make a suggestion, donate to an animal shelter. There are so many STYLISH shelters out there in need of $$$ such as The Humane Society , ASPCA, Peta or Mostly Mutts. If there is one thing I love more than recycled luxury clothes it’s animals! Merry Christmas everyone….
This 90′s nylon LBD that zips up in the front by Isaac Mizrahi is off the chart hot with STYLE. Mizrahi’s aim when designing is to maximize the most out of a glamorous situation just take this simple little black dress I scored. I would pray hard to the thrift store GODS above to lead me to this silk bow belt by Oscar de la Renta and these Maison Martin Margiela booties to complete this outfit and I do mean really hard… Isaac Mizrahi is a very versatile designer and for goodness sake he sells his goods at Bergdorf Goodman which is the Empress of STYLE. When I find Rena Lange inside a thrift store I ask myself “how did this happen”? Talk about a luxury brand it’s Rena Lange. Martha Lange opened a lingerie shop in 1916 in Munich, and the brand introduced women’s ready-to-wear in 1953. In 1990, the company was renamed Rena Lange with Renate Gunthert (wife of Martha’s nephew) designing the collection. Today, third-generation family member Daniel Gunthert runs the company, which is known for precision tailoring, signature trims, and exceptional fabrics. I love this gray wool skirt by Rena Lange and when I paired it with this pumpkin linen Weekend by Max Mara blouse it just sets the room on fire. I found this tie black cherry belt that elevates this outfit way out of the stratosphere… Put your favorite pair of Stella McCartney black heeled boots on and go spray paint the word STYLE all over the walls… Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too… toodles for now. This is the result of shopping at a thrift store, I got 3 very lovely skirts: Agnes B, Escada & Trina Turk and all in excellent condition. Everyday whether it’s a thrift store, estate sale or yard sale I tend to find great pieces and this is no exception. I’ve always considered myself to be lucky and born under the right star so to speak but between you and me, I think it’s because I’m grateful. As I gathered up the Agnes B skirt I said “thank you”, when I plucked the Escada skirt I said “thank you” and when I scored the Trina Turk skirt again I said “thank you”…. It’s a very simple and easy line to remember but it works because it shows the thrift store GODS that you appreciate and feel gratitude. Try this the next time you find something super great in a thrift or consignment store and I would bet that Lady Luck will be on your side… Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too…. toodles for now. This white silk 3.1 Phillip Lim dress is in mint condition and when my eyes first spotted it, I couldn’t believe my luck. It’s not everyday I find anything from Phillip Lim inside a thrift store but when I do, I sing high praise to the thrift store GODS above. The 3.1 Phillip Lim woman is ultra feminine with her own sense of STYLE. After studying at California State University, Lim worked at Katayone Adeli, where he went from design assistant to creative director. In 2005 he launched his own line and to this day it continues to thrive. When my client walks into a restaurant wearing this dress all heads will turn in her direction and if you think for one second their first thoughts will be “oh that looks like it came out of a second hand store” well you would be so wrong. STYLE is STYLE no matter what…. Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too… toodles for now. Be STYLISH go green. I snagged this brand new Jasper Conran men’s shirt for my partner Mitch and as I eyed it I said to myself ” thank you this is very nice now I need me a little something something”…. seconds later I pillaged this striped Liberty men’s shirt for ME… I am so psyched that my Liberty shirt is super soft and made in Italy…. what a tag hag I am ! Since 1875, Liberty has been synonymous with luxury and great design. Arthur Liberty’s intuitive vision and pioneering spirit led him to travel the world looking for individual pieces to inspire and excite his discerning clientele. I’ve always loved Liberty’s vibrant patterns and fabrics and they are instantly recognizable. I’m very pleased with my new treasure and I know Mitch will be too when I present him this gorgeous shirt after all it’s by Jasper Conran and that man is a true artist and visionary. I love this quote from him : ‘‘I don’t see myself as a fashion designer. I see myself as a designer. I design clothes, but I also design a lot of other stuff. When I design clothes, I’m more interested in the cut and the craftsmanship of clothing as opposed to trendiness.” Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too….toodles for now. Finding a vintage Bill Blass wrap dress from Neiman Marcus nearly put me under. I couldn’t believe it nor could I believe my luck in finding such a exquisite item. Finding vintage Bill Blass is like finding that old winning lottery ticket, it’s valuable. This paisley print wrap Bill Blass dress, with deluxe shoulder pads, is timeless and even today makes quite a fashion statement. Bill Blass during the 70′s & 80′s was the man socialites went to for all their goods. Bill Blass like Pucci, Givenchy & Cartier did a exclusive edition for Lincoln Continental in the 70′s and boy do I wish I had one because I would convert it to bio-diesel ! For all my thrifters out there the next time you see a vintage Bill Blass piece in a thrift store, estate sale or yard sale – grab it. His couture pieces are highly collectible and desirable for any woman collecting vintage couture. I think this Lanvin satin bow belt would look amazing with this vintage piece to drag it into the 21th century… Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too….. toodles for now.
