Max Mara jacket & a French cuff Paul Smith shirt for me….

1 thing I’ve learned being the owner of Doubletake is a lot of woman lack self confidence.  I know that sounds so harsh but the truth is sometimes brutal.  I see a lot of woman everyday at Doubletake and I’m always blown away but the fact that women focus on the minute ‘flaws’ as if the entire world knows their ‘flaws’ and are watching and staring.  In reality it’s the so not the truth.  I believe that everyone is beautiful and unique so when I hear “oh my boobs are so tiny it just doesn’t look right” or “this makes my ass look huge”.  Listen if you don’t have boobs that’s OK and if your ass if huge that’s OK too as long as you embrace it.  To me it all comes down to just having self confidence and I mean confidence.  I’ve met people who are 4 feet tall and carry themselves with an air of confidence like I’ve never seen before and I know women that are 4 feet wide and look up at the world.  I say embrace your image…  I got carried away again….  I found this beautiful Max Mara black jacket for a future client and I found this French cuff Paul Smith shirt for ME.  I will wear this Paul Smith with all the confidence the world has to offer so when you get dressed today or tomorrow look at yourself naked in the mirror and say “Damn I’m hot”! Halston jacket with blue suede shoes by St John….

I was blown away when I heard this but it makes sense.  Our friend Adam is studying to be a Emergency Medical Technician and in his studies  has learned this: never get into your car with a full bladder.  Why you ask because if you crashed your bladder would more than likely burst which means if you survived the crash you would be carrying your pee in a bag!  Since I hadn’t heard that before I wanted to pass that very important info onto my readers…. So the next time you get into your car empty your bladder but make sure your wallet is full…  So here is today’s blog post.  I found this gorgeous navy faux suede Halston jacket and as soon as I turned around I spotted these blue suede St John heels.  2 navy items: Halston & St John so I’m thinking navy is the word for the day, I’m also still thinking about the pee in the bag….  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Faceook and follow me on Twitter too….  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Herringbone Giorgio Armani blouse with black Jasper Conran slacks….

What do you get when you put a classic herringbone pattern Giorgio Armani blouse with black Jasper Conran slacks?  STYLE is what you get baby….. STYLE .   Who doesn’t love anything by Giorgio Armani more or less a classic herringbone pattern blouse?  No one …  The Armani blouse goes so beautifully with these black Jasper Conran slacks and I’m a huge fan of this guy because in my opinion he’s a true artist.  Parson educated UK native Jasper Conran debuted his design company in 1978 with a womenswear line.  I say wear these pearl platform pumps by Nicholas Kirkwood and go tear up the town… I do mean tear up the town!  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too…..toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

JPG jean jacket vest top with classic St John black skirt….

I LOVEEEE mixing this bad boy of fashion Jean Paul Gaultier with your classic traditional St John knit skirt, they are both night and day from each other and yet they play nice together.  My eyes almost popped out when I saw this label inside a thrift store because you just don’t find Jean Paul Gaultier everyday inside a thrift store, it just doesn’t happen.  I love JPG because he’s daring & cutting edge and isn’t that what life is supposed to be?  I also love finding a good old basic St John Knit classic black skirt because you can be 18 or 80 and still wear this brand, it’s all in the way you mix and match.  By putting this JPG with St John you crank you the STYLE volume on this ensemble to a deafening level.  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too…..  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

The Thrifters blog wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving…

Every time I find a Gucci – Pucci – Prada item in the thrift stores I say “thank you”….  Every time I find a Chanel & Hermes item in the thrift stores I say “thank you sweet GODS above”.  I got into the habit very early in my life to say “thank you”, it’s just what my parents taught me and my brother Darrell.  My parents & brother are alive today and I say “thank you”.  Today is a day to say thank you to those you love…..  so thank you thrift stores for supplying me with all the recycled luxury I can ever dream of……

Barbara Bui long black skirt with Tory Burch white shorts…..

Did you hear that noise?  It was my cherry being popped by Barbara Bui because this gorgeous long black wool skirt by Barbara Bui is the very first item I’ve ever found from this French designer in a thrift store.  Barbara Bui was born in Paris (lucky her) to a Vietnamese father and a French mother and in 1987 the Barbara Bui label was born.  From STYLISH clothes, jewelry, shoes and accessories this French brand is tres chic no doubt.  So this skirt is perfect for the night time and these white Tory Burch shorts are perfect for daytime and I just keep thinking how magical these 2 items would be just walking along in Cannes enjoying every moment of life.  Today you don’t have to be R$CH to dress sleek, you just have to have patience & luck.  So go and make this a greener planet by shopping second hand and let me enjoy my cig after all I just had my cherry popped by Barbara Bui…  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too……toodles for now.  Be StYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Not 1 but 2 black Chanel pleated skirts to go please….

What are the friggin odds of not only finding 1 but 2 black pleated Chanel skirts in the thrift store?  183 billion to 1 maybe?  When I eyed the label I had to contain my joy, no one whats to see a happy man raising a Chanel skirt up in the thrift store saying “look what I found”, but right next to the first 1 was the 2nd skirt.  Back to  back so you can only imagine just how hard I had to bite my tongue…  2 Chanel black pleated skirts that obviously came from the same owner, both size 8.  It isn’t everyday, every week or even every month that I find Chanel inside a thrift store but when I do I’m going to open up a bottle of champagne to celebrate.  Thank you Thrift Store GODS for leading me there to begin with and thank you Thrift Store GODS for salvaging these 2 beauties.   I think it might be time to pop that cork….  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter too….  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

White Ella Moss top with brown patent leather Jil Sander shoes…

My fabulous friend Cara calls me the “Luxury Recycler” and I LOVEEEE that, its so right on target with what I proudly do.   What I do is hunt for the misplaced designer luxury pieces in thrift stores, estate sales or yard sales, buy it to save it.  Speaking of proudly doing will you just look at these 2 lovely items…  I found a white Ella Moss top & a pair of brown patent leather Jil Sander shoes both from a fabulous thrift store.  Sometime you just have to roll up your sleeves and hunt for luxury but I figure this if I can salvage a beautiful piece of designer luxury from ending up in a landfill and pass it on to a client then I’ve got my wing waiting for me in heaven or am I delusional?  Don’t answer that but please do stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter….  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Sunday is a day to say thank you…

I am always blown away but my daily emails from people that tell me I’ve inspired them to thrift or telling me what they’ve found while thrifting.  Thank you all for doing that, so today I wanted to just show you an email I received from a follower of The Thrifters blog.  I love it and thank you Cleo for sharing.

Dear Daniel,
I’ve attached some collage photos of some of my favorite thrift store finds.  It looks like I had some time between schoolwork to put this together.  I’ve already put them on Facebook for my friends to see.
Description:
I didn’t find these items all on the same day, but I did get them this year.
I bought the red Armani Collezioni dress for $6.98.  I bought the Escada dress for $4.98.  I bought the Patrizia Pepe leggings at a Goodwill for around $2 or $3.  I bought the vintage Furstenberg top for around $5.00 at the Goodwill; I got it at the same time as the Pepe leggings.  I bought the Furstenberg skirt at another store for about $.90. There were a few problems with the skirt, but I fixed nearly everything and I’m satisfied with it.  I got the Cosabella bodysuit for $1.99 at a CHKD thrift store. I got the Stefanel skirt skirt for $4.98.  I got the Louis Feraud velvet bolero/blazer for $4.98.  I hope I didn’t leave anything out.  I’m not sure that I have a favorite, since these items are all so different.  I like them all.
Feel free to do a feature on your blog or to mention/post them on youtube.

SoCa by St John slacks + Tootsies chic slacks + silk poncho…

First let me tell you that I’m loving this silk no name poncho because I’m from Texas and we love our ponchos!  This sexy and fun silk poncho with it’s abstract swirl pattern is the perfect accessory for any occasion, plus it goes beautifully with both slacks.   I scored these SoCa by St John slacks and I haven’t seen this label – SoCa – in quite some time.  If my memory is correct St John created this line for a younger more hip customer but I don’t believe it’s still in production. Then I found what I call the Endora Slacks by Tootsies.  Now since I’m from Texas and Tootsies started in Houston  I tell everyone that is going to Houston they have to stop at 2 places: The Menil Collection & Tootsies!  These black slacks are so old Hollywood glam I can’t stand it….  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter….  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Striped Paul Smith blouse with your classic striped Piazza Sempione slacks…

Stripes aren’t just for jail birds today, oh no darling, stripes are for everyone.  In my college years I had a drunken roommate who stood up in the middle of a crowded bar and said “WATER around the house!!!!” Every time I think of that I just laugh because he was so crazy & full of fun and he just wanted everyone in the bar to be hydrated.  I feel the same way about stripes, I want everyone to wear them, they don’t need to be hydrated.  To me stripes are always in STYLE and when I see this Paul Smith blouse and these Piazza Sempione slacks and they are striped well then the next time I’m at a bar and had 1 to many martinis I’ll stand up and yell “STRIPES around the house!” Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter….  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Pringle of Scotland is something for winter & Max Mara Weekend is something for spring…

When I’m thrifting and it’s 121 degrees outside and find a cashmere Giorgio Armani jacket, I grab it and the same goes for if it’s 16 degrees outside and find a short sleeve Dries Van Noten blouse, I grab it too.  STYLE doesn’t wait for the temperature to change outside !  I grabbed both of these lovely items in 1 swoop and left no trail of evidence.  This is a gorgeous white vintage sweater by Pringle of Scotland and this is a gorgeous light weight jacket by Max Mara Weekend and what both of items need are a pair of Stella McCartney slacks.  My motto is “grab luxury when you can and don’t look back”.  Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter…  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!

Jil Sander top with Cynthia Steffe ruffled skirt…

This entire outfit if 100% eco friendly because the top, belt & skirt all came from the same thrift store. You know I love my Jil Sander, I mean LOVE Jil Sander….  so when I scored this beauty I just couldn’t help but smile all day long.  I found this black patent belt and the Cynthia Steffe ruffled skirt all within minutes of each other.  So yes this complete ensemble is eco friendly because I salvaged them from inside a thrift store and breathed new life back into these gems. That’s what I do best and you can too.  Being STYLISH today means shopping smart so what better why of shopping smart is there other than thrifting??  Close the case Judge Judy.   Stop by Doubletake my social media driven boutique in Atlanta and please friend me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter…..  toodles for now.  Be STYLISH go green.  Daniel your luxury curator!
