Miguelina silk top with 2 piece Alberto Makali and both items were brand new…

WHAM is the word I’m using to describe both of these items because both of them were brand new….WHAM and it feels so good…. I love finding brand new items in a thrift store, love it…its what I live for daily and in this case just look at these labels…I found this brand new red silk top by Miguelina, still with tags, and was quite pleased.  It can be said that an a profound sense of STYLE has always been innate in Miguelina Gambaccini.  In 1997 when the designer first launched her collection of chic and carefree designs, the Miguelina label has evolved into a complete lifestyle brand that offers ultra feminine tops and dresses, to beachwear and luxury travel appeal.  This brand is a favorite among the jet setters, socialites, fashionistas and celebrities.  I also found this brand new 2 piece peach skirt with jacket by Alberto Makali and again the tags were still on the item… Alberto Makali can be found in Neiman Marcus for a shiny pretty penny…  Finding these 2 labels inside a thrift store that were brand new is like having a WHAM moment…  When in Atlanta stop by my new boutique doubletake and follow me  on Twitter & Facebook.  Click on and enjoy my YouTube channel.  Toodles for now.  Daniel your thrift curator!

Marc by Marc Jacobs top with funky Alice + Olivia curtain pants…

Now these are some funky pants and yes I think they look like my grandma’s curtains, made with crewel fabric… Inside these slacks, that AREN’T lined, you see all the loose thread from the embroidering so the woman that wears these slacks might want to strap on a pair of pantyhose.  Launched in 2002, Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet is a sophisticated, yet eclectic brand with a playful sensibility, which epitomizes the personality and quirky style of its founder.  Obviously if you saw the interior of these slacks quirky wouldn’t be the first word you would use…I have to be real honest with you I have no idea why anyone would run to the upholstery fabric supply store, grab a couple of yards of grandma’s curtain crewel fabric and then take it back and create a pair of pants???  My beef with these slacks is they should have been lined.  What is the saving grace here for this ensemble is this simple black cotton top by Marc by Marc Jacobs.  This top might look like just another cotton top but the detailing in this top is so modern and clean, it only elevates these curtain slacks.  I know some of you might think I’m a little harsh with this posting but sometimes you have to question authority’s judgement.  Sometime less really is more and when it comes to these curtain slacks less Stacey really is more….  Stop by my boutique when in Atlanta called doubletake and follow my blog daily on Twitter and Facebook.  Click and watch my YouTube channel for inexpensive pleasures….toodles for now.  Daniel your thrift curator!

Tadashi white top & Marc Jacobs orange top with ABS by Allen Schwartz brown wool skirt….

I loved putting this ensemble together because there are 2 really fabulous tops by 2 really fabulous designers and 1 enduring bottom by ABS by Allen Schwartz…  The first is the white Tadashi top, made of nylon, that has the ruching down the center…This top can be worn 101 ways and each way would look better than the last.  Did you know that during the 70′s Tadashi Shoji was creating designs for a list stars like Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamon, The Jacksons & Earth Wind and Fire….. This brand was established in 1982 and this Los Angeles based fashion furry design house is represented by Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and all over the this planet…. This guy is super HOT.  The next top was designed by Marc Jacobs and this orange cotton button up dress blouse is gorgeously chic in every way….  What is there not to LOVE about Marc Jacobs?  This fashion rock star is a true creative genius and one I would absolutely love to meet.  For the bottom I found this ABS by Allen Schwartz brown skirt made from wool and spandex.  Love a little spandex and a little spandex goes a long ways….A stretch here, a stretch there and everyone is happy…These 2 tops look frigging sleek with this brown skirt and which ever top you picked, you’ll make one happy bottom…..Stop by my new boutique doubletake when you’re in Atlanta and follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook.  Watch my YouTube channel for that added zinger….Toodles for now.  Daniel

Black velvet Kay Unger dress with vintage YSL patent leather belt….

When I found this black velvet long formal Kay Unger dress it was missing the belt but you know a missing belt, a missing button, a stain etc never stops me for buying a good luxury item…. This gorgeous chic long velvet dress with just the right amount of slit on the side that shows just the right amount of skin so it’s sultry in a modern way….  Kay Unger is a native from Chicago and attended Parsons where she learned and mastered her craft.  Neiman Marcus and Saks both carry this brand and in Texas we call this ‘high cotton’.  So I have the dress in my hands and I’m walking around the thrift store and I’m keeping my eyes open for anything to just tie around this dress, it could be an Chanel or Hermes scarf (don’t laugh it could and does happen) or a belt….  As Lady Luck would have it she didn’t want me leaving the thrift store without this vintage white patent leater Yves Saint Laurent belt that was buried under a mountain of belts… You know me and patience, I dug in that pile and before to long I had this YSL belt wrapped around this Kay Unger velvet dress like it was a python and the dress was it’s prey… Next time you’re in Atlanta make sure you stop by my boutique doubletake and come visit me.   Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and enjoy my YouTube channel.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Joie top with Max Mara jacket and this pleated Jaeger wool skirt…

Joie in French means joy and it’s pure joy when you walk right into a thrift store and pluck this baby right out….I love this brand, this company doesn’t create crap clothing, they’ve got a handle on quality, concept, fit and construction.  This soft sheer sexy top by Joie simply put is joy.  I think I’ll throw in some more joy with this Max Mara jacket….OMG I don’t think I could exude any more joy but I’ll try….  Max Mara is one of my favorite Italian brands known for their quality of fabric and designs, finding this little baby was a real treat…. Hold on to your Spanx because I’m about to get real luxurious with this pleated vintage Jaeger wool skirt.  The first Jaeger shop started trading in 1884 and promoted the benefits of clothes made from natural fibers.  Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy & Marianne Faithfull shopped at this luxury British brand renowned for designing stylish, innovative and superb quality womenswear, menswear and accessories.  This outfit flows nicely from head to toe and any woman wearing it would flow.  Stop by my new boutique called doubletake when in Atlanta and follow me daily on Twitter and Facebook.  Click on and enjoy my YouTube channel….toodles for now.   Daniel

One simple Robert Rodriguez dress coming up……

To me you can’t get any hotter than Robert Rodriguez and it’s always a blessing to find a RR item while thrifting.  I found this eyelet fabric strapless Robert Rodriguez dress and almost won an Olympic gymnastic gold metal.  Robert Rodriguez was trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and received the prestigious Critics Award for Best Designer of the Year.  In 2003, Robert co founded his namesake label Robert Rodriguez, a sophisticated, feminine, sexy, contemporary collection.  All of Roberts collections incorporate the principles of haute couture by focusing on fashion, quality and fit.  The collections are available at luxury department stores including Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Fred Segal & Harvey Nichols or you can try Lady Lucks hand while out thrifting like I did……  When in Atlanta stop by my new boutique called doubletake.  Follow me daily on Twitter and friend me on Facebook so we can connect and watch my YouTube channel for cheap entertainment.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Theory silk blouse with Cynthia Steffe jacket and Beth Bowley silk skirt…

This blog posting is exciting for me because this makes the second item I’ve found from Beth Bowley and just like the previous item before,  this silk skirt is sassy and sexy.  Before I get carried off in a tangent on Beth Bowley let me just say that I found the Theory silk polka dot blouse with elastic wrist bands first.  Leave it to Theory to design something modern and classic such as this polka dot silk blouse…this item will NEVER go out of STYLE….Ok back to Beth.. Beth Bowley became a fashion designer at a young age and won scholarship to the Parsons School of Design in NYC.  She worked for designer Perry Ellis (just like Marc Jacobs did) and gained experience that would enable her to open her own design service company.  In the spring of 1998, Bowley launched her first Beth Bowley collection and within a year her line was included in Henri Bendel, Barney’s and Fred Segal.  Bowley favors vintage finds & cashmere for her sweaters.  Beth Bowley’s totally wearable chic core collection is punctuated with unexpected offbeat twists and turns.  To top this ensemble off nicely I added this Cynthia Steffe khaki jacket with grommet buttons….hot and very modern.   When in Atlanta come by my boutique called doubletake.  Follow me on Twitter & Facebook and click on and watch my YouTube channel.  Toodles for now.  Daniel your thrift curator!

Paisley cashmere Neiman Marcus top with TSE navy slacks…

Paisley never ever goes out of STYLE in fact it’s been in vogue since it’s conception.  Paisley is a droplet shaped motif of Indian and Persian origin.  The pattern is sometimes called “Persian pickles” by American traditionalist, especially quilt makers, or “Welsh pears” in Welsh textiles as far back as 1888.  Resembling a twisted teardrop, the kidney shaped paisley is Persian and Indian in origin, but its western name derives from the town of Paisley in Scotland.  This sexy short sleeve Neiman Marcus cashmere paisley print top is timeless indeed.. I love the cut of the collar and of course the softness of the cashmere but what I really love is that label !  I know I’m such a tag hag but who doesn’t want a cashmere top by Neiman Marcus, if your not raising your hand you are free to leave the buildingI found these gorgeous TSE wool with spandex navy slacks that are absolutely perfect for this top. TSE is all about luxury in fact they wrote the book on high end luxury.  Jason Wu is currently their creative director, so you know this brand has an eye for pure talent and a touch for quality.  This ensemble is simple and chic,  any woman wearing this outfit would feel completely at ease well unless you count the eyes that are upon her…. Sassy black flapper skirt by Laundry by Shelli Segal and this butterfly Tory Burch blouse…

Spotting that orange Tory Burch label is something I could probably do from miles away, you know orange is my favorite color so that’s the easy part.  I plucked this sheer navy butterfly pattern Tory Burch and held it up for further inspection and grinned from ear to ear, like that canary that ate the cat…..This top is beyond being hot and STYLISH its up there with just being so pure and simple gorgeous.  This top can go from that casual event to evening power hitting function in a bat of an eye and that what makes Tory Burch so desirable.  In a recent interview they asked Tory Burch this question: “what do you choose first, your bag or your outfit?” and here is here reply “I usually gravitate towards one item–a printed blouse or a great jacket–and then I build from there.  I don’t like to wear bags that match what I’m wearing–I really think it’s all about the mix.  A bag doesn’t have to be expensive or have a label in order to be chic.  Some of my favorite bags are from vintage stores or flea markets.  However, I definitely believe that the right accessories can transform any outfit, even just a plain t-shirt and jeans.  A great bag, pair of shoes or a unique piece of jewelry can perfectly express your STYLE.”  I LOVE THAT……and I would love to pillage some thrift stores with her…  I found this flapper inspired black skirt by Laundry by Shelli Segal and knew instantly that this would be a winning combination.  Sexy and STYLISH what more can anyone ask for except that black American Express card???  All items on my blog are for sale so please contact me for details and when in Atlanta please stop by doubletake my new boutique to peek inside.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and sit back and watch my YouTube channel.  Toodles for now.  Daniel your thrift curator!

Can luxury really be this good, I mean really this good???  From top to bottom this entire ensemble came right out of 1 thrift store and blew me away because each item is high end luxury at its best.  Lets start with the top…..I found this gorgeous navy silk / cashmere blend MAG sleeveless top in pristine condition.  MAG is all about luxury just click on the link and look at their collection…..  The next item I found were these striped slacks by Nanette Lepore with a button tab on the cuff, that only make these slacks even more R$CH and modern.  Finally I found this brand new Max Mara light wool jacket and yes it is brand new and it would be a sin if I actually told you what I paid for it…. With a vintage Pringle of Scotland sweater with new Helmut Lang wool slacks everyone wins…

Listen I believe in Lady Luck because how else do you explain that in 1 Salvation Army I could collect this vintage Pringle of Scotland sweater and these brand new Helmut Lang wool slacks?  It’s unexplainable isn’t it?  Lady Luck was on my side and for that I’ll be eternally grateful.  When I laid my hands on this vintage red Pringle of Scotland sweater my mouth flew wide open as if it were a scene from Bewitched where Samantha stops time and freezes everyone….. Yes that was me…. Pringle of Scotland is one of the oldest luxury goods labels in the world, it was founded in 1815 by Robert Pringle.  Ex Ralph Lauren and Gucci, Clare Waight Keller has been Pringle’s creative director since 2005.  From mesh dresses to luxurious shearling jackets, Waight Keller updates Pringle’s sophisticated heritage pieces with a dash of modern luxury. Screen icons Jean Simmons and Grace Kelly wore Pringle and now that Academy award winner Tilda Swinton is the new face for their ad campaign I see no stopping this STYLISH brand.  Luxury doesn’t stop right here it continues when I find these brand new Helmut Lang black wool slacks…. Helmut Lang has become synonymous with the cerebral brand of minimalism that took the world by storm in the late 80′s.  Husband and wife team Nicole & Michael Colovos are the creative directors for this brand and they continue to provide razor sharp lines and high tech fabrics in their collections.  This red Pringle sweater with these black wool Lang slacks ensemble were meant to unite, it was their destiny and it was all in the stars and of course Lady Lucy….all items are for sale so contact if interested and please stop by my boutique doubletake when in Atlanta.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and as always click on and enjoy my YouTube channel. DKNY beaded sweater with Michael Kors skirt and these Ferragamo shoes and everything was new….

This entire ensemble from top to bottom and by bottom I’m referring to the shoes were new….  I love when I find new items when thrifting, you can’t get any higher than that, well not legally you can’t…. The first item I pulled out from the racks was this beaded DKNY dark gray sweater and everyone needs a beaded sweater esp a nice beaded sweater and leave it to Donna Karen for DKNY to design a highly polished one.  You can’t read or see Donna Karen’s name and not associate it with New York fashion, one thing for sure is Donna Karen does have her pulse on the pop culture fashion of the Big Apple.    Next lovely item I scored was this brand new, with the tag still on it, Michael Kors white cotton skirt.  Another New Yorker fashionista, Kors has earned many top notch design awards just like Donna Karen.  These 2 fashion rock stars always design good –  basic – simple –  chic –  functional  and most important STYLISH creations.  Now I get to throw in an Italian in the mix to really spice things up… I found these Ferragamo heels that still had the Neiman Marcus sticker inside the shoe.  What do you have to say about Ferragamo except that this Italian brand is high end luxury at its best.  I love this entire ensemble, with 2 New York designers that stepped into the shoes of an Italian mega star, and to think that each piece was new just blows my mind.   Lady Luck….Lady Luck…..  all items on my blog are for sale so please contact me if interested and be sure you stop by my boutique doubletake when in Atlanta.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and set back and watch my YouTube channel.  Toodles for now.  Daniel your thrift curator!

Ann Ferriday lace top with Tadashi white jacket and this vintage Valentino polka dot skirt….

This ensemble is like one big explosion of luxury brands and high STYLE.   To begin with I found this Ann Ferriday bronze color lace top that ties with a pretty ribbon and for those of you that aren’t familiar with this brand do yourself a huge favor and learn this name.  I LOVE Ann Ferriday and I hope you enjoy her website as much as I do each time I go on it.  Ann Ferriday grew up in Canada then moved to London then Paris then Los Angeles…. get the picture???  This lovely designer is a world traveler always looking and searching for adventure and gaining worldly knowledge.  Every woman should own a piece of Ann Ferriday in her closet.   I found this chic white wrap jacket by Tadashi that is luxurious to the max… Tadashi Shoji, is the founder and chief designer, was born in Japan and began painting and drawing at a young age.  Established in 1982, the Los Angeles based fashion house Tadashi has become widely recognized for its original designs and innovative collections.  Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdale’s are among the power hitters that represent this designer.  To tie an even larger bow on this lovely present I found this vintage Valentino navy polka dot skirt and I don’t have to even say much after that…..LOVE Valentino especially vintage Valentino…. Gorgeous and super sleek is the title for this ensemble and any woman caught wearing this would be awarded the highest medal of STYLE there is.  All items on my blog are for sale and if interested please contact me and if in Atlanta stop by doubletake my new boutique to say hi.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and watch my YouTube channel in between those afternoon cocktails.  Toodles for now.  Daniel your thrift curator!

Riveting red wool Carolina Herrera dress with black velvet trim….

This makes the second item by Carolina Herrera I’ve found inside a thrift store and like the time before this one, it’s exhilarating to say the least.  “I love the idea of elegance and intricacy, but whether it’s in a piece of clothing or a fragrance, the intricacy must appear as simplicity,” says Carolina Herrera, the 2008 CFDA winner of the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, of the aesthetic sense that has driven her for over 25 years as fashion designer.  Chic, sophisticated women all over the world turned to Herrera’s label for the type of impeccable suits, dresses and gowns that she instinctively knew how to design.  The legacy of having grown up in a world where women worn only haute couture, Herrera herself had attended her first couture show, that of Cristobal Balenciaga, at the age of 13 with her grandmother.  Now that’s just not class that’s true STYLE.  This simple chic red wool dress trimmed in black velvet is yet another shining example of her classic and timeless touch.  With the right modern clutch and these Cesare Paciotti desirable heels a woman wearing this ensemble might be considered armed and dangerous.  All items on my blog are for sale contact me if interested and when in Atlanta stop by my boutique doubletake.  Follow me on Twitter and friend me on Facebook so we can connect and watch and enjoy my YouTubechannel for that good old fashion cheap entertainment factor.  Toodles for now.
