BCBG halter top and these striped Akris slacks make one STYLISH ensemble.

I love this abstract modern pattern on this BCBG halter top, I love the color combination and construction.  This BCBG top would look just about fabulous on anything even if you wore it with a burlap skirt…. BCBG is known for their stylish designs and cutting edge silhouettes.  This little hot sassy number is no exception.  I paired this BCBG halter top, since it has a touch of brown, with these Akris light brown striped slacks.  Finding a pair of Akris slacks inside a thrift store is like matching a couple of numbers on the Power Ball – exciting !  Akris designs are not just to be seen, it has to be felt to understand its quality.  Akris is wearable fashion, not just for special occasions, but also for everyday wear and the collection is strongly characterized by the mobility of our time.  Clear shapes and simple lines are the fundemental basics of the Akris collection and creative flair is expressed unobtrusively in each and every piece.  Luxurious material makes these slacks radiate with charm and once you feel the fabric you know what I’m talking about….  Nothing better than first rate quality fabrics, well maybe a good old fashion martini.  If there is any item on my blog you are interested in please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique first.  Follow my daily adventures on Twitter & Facebook, and also please enjoy a good laugh at my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Nieves Lavi silk button up dress.

I still can’t get over the fact that this Nieves Lavi 100% silk button up dress is BRAND NEW….. At first glance I thought this dress was vintage because of the retro pattern but no this baby is brand new and still has the tag.  Nieves Lavi is a collaboration between Sam Nieves Velez and Sharon Lavi.  Sam Nieves serves as creative director and is responsible for research and development of all collections.  Prior to this position he was head designer for DKNY Jeans and mens division.  He has done numerous freelance collaborations including pattern making for Anna Sui, costume design for the theater and made to order pieces.  Sam Nieves formal training was at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York as well as Academia Isa in Madrid Spain.  Sharon Lavi serves as art director which means she co-designs all collections for Nieves Lavi.  Sharon Lavi brings years of design, textile design, marketing and accessory design experience to the company.  Prior to this Sharon served as designer to Ralph Lauren and Vera Wang.  She was also trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.  I love that these 2 creative geniuses got together and provide the world such elegant, timeless, tasteful and masterful creations.  Can’t you see these gorgeous Proenza Schouler red patent leather sculpted heels work their magic on this Nieves Lavi dress?  With these shoes and this dress a woman can do much damage and isn’t that wonderful????  A little damage – a little pain never hurt anyone…..  If there is anything on my blog that you are interested in please email me for price, additional photos and measurements, and also please just check out the Thrifters Boutique .  Follow my daily adventures on Twitter & Facebook and enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Trina Turk halter dress and slacks + Wendy Katlen red cotton top….

Wow any day of the week when I find 2 pieces of Trina Turk inside the same thrift store is a good day.  I LOVE Trina Turk, she is just California brilliant.  The first item I found was this silk halter dress with a bamboo ring, isn’t that just simple chic or what?  The pattern on the silk halter dress is so retro it’s fabulous, just no other word to describe it just fabulous.  To me everything that Trina Turk touches is fabulous and sophisticated and always modern with a splash of lime….  With the right pair of heels this woman could cut somebody….  The other Trina Turk item I found were the khaki slacks with cotton and spandex. These slacks look scrumptious with this red cotton Wendy Katlen top.  I’m really not able to find out alot about Wendy Katlen, there are several sites that sale her clothes but she doesn’t have a website…. I honestly don’t know how today of all days one doesn’t have a website…..  I love what you are doing Wendy so unless you are resting in Forest Lawn hop online.  If any item peeks your interest on my blog please email for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and please follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook.  Don’t miss my YouTube videos too.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Eskandar striped cotton blouse + Robert Graham silk blouse with Lafayette 148 New York slacks…

Love finding new labels to rattle on about and the GODS know that so they let me have this gorgeous cotton striped Eskandar blouse to babble about.  Check out the detail photo of the blouse that shows the front side pocket, you stick your hand in what looks like the inside of the blouse but is actually a front pocket.  I love that added touch of brilliance.  While some designers in the fashion industry look straight ahead for the next big thing or toy with futuristic themes, Teheran-born designer Eskandar Nabavi harks exclusively to the past – one that brings to mind Moroccan robes, peasant skirts and layers of long scarves.  He first attracted attention in the 90′s with his knitwear, which eventually grew into a full fledged label that included women’s and men’s wear, as well as a small children’s line.  Eskandar creates fashionable pieces that are relaxed, play with volume and bring a touch of old world culture to the wearer.  I also found this gorgeous Robert Graham silk wild cartoonish blouse that I think is absolutely HOT & spicy.  Love Robert Graham….  Since 2001, Robert Graham has captivated consumers with an aesthetic experience that pushes the boundaries of the status quo.  Each piece is an unconventional work of art designed for an individual who exudes confidence and a distinctive identity.  Now that I found 2 really gorgeous and very different blouses I wanted to put these tops with a simple chic bottom which is where Layayette 148 New York comes in handy.  Edward Wilkerson is masterful at his job as creative director for this brand, just masterful.  These slacks are made of cotton and silk and come with some shine.  I love the front 2 pockets on these slacks and I love how each blouse looks completely different and unique with these Lafayette 148 New York slacks.  Nothing wrong with a little hot & spicy food every now and then now is there????  If there is anything on my blog that tickles your fancy please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out what is available on The Thrifters Boutique link too.  Please follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.   Daniel

White cotton Lafayette 148 New York blouse with black wool Trina Turk sleek slacks….

I think for me the funnest thing about writing a daily blog is actually finding new labels to chit chat about.  So when this gorgeous chic Lafayette 148 New York cotton blouse jumped off the racks and into my cart I knew it was special.  This label I don’t see daily, weekly or even monthly inside a thrift store.   The brand was established in 1996 and named for its Manhattan street address.  Chic and modern designs in the most luxurious fabrics define the label.  Edward Wilkerson is the creative director for the brand, Edward graduated from high school of Art and Design in Manhattan and won acceptance into Parsons School of Design.  By 1984 he was a designer for Anne Klein, where he assisted Donna Karen and Louis del O’lio.  In 1998 he joined Lafayette 148 New York as design director.  Inspired by his frequent world travels and the women he meets, Edwards has a unique vision and sense of style that translates into elegant, yet supremely wearable fashion.  This label can be found at Saks Fifth Avenue & Neiman Marcus.   So when it came time for me to suit this lovely top with a gorgeous bottom it wasn’t all that difficult when these Trina Turk black wool slacks turned up.  These Trina Turk black super light weigh wool slacks, with purple trim around waist, are very sophisticated.  This ensemble looks like you would have spent some major bucks but lets just keep this our dirty little secret…..  Nothing wrong with a little dirt….  If you see anything on my blog please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and please follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook, also please click on and watch my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Velvet Hale Bob camisole with Romeo Gigli white slacks ooh la la is right…

What a real treat to actually find a brand new Hale Bob velvet camisole in a thrift store.  This camisole is gorgeous because where the flowers are is sheer so it’s sexy and encrusted on each flower are beads for an extra sizzle.   I love that this top consist of velvet, silk, lace & beads.  R$CH I say R$CH….. At Hale Bob they create clothing that sets women apart from the crowd.  Their collections are unique and their prints are developed in their studio and are exclusive to Hale Bob.  Most of their garments are made from 100% silk.  Silk is a natural fiber that keeps a woman warm in the winter and cool in the summer, captures the essence of femininity and creates a transformation whenever she wears it.  Their priority is to make a woman feel beautiful, comfortable and confident.  I put this ultra rich camisole with these uber rich Gigli white slacks.  The tag says “Gigli Jeans” but let me tell you they are no more jeans than I’m a Rockefeller by birth, they are luxurious cotton with spandex slacks, not denim.  Anyway I absolutely love Romeo Gigli and always have.  He’s brilliant…. Romeo Gigli launched his company in 1983.  “Gigli was the first designer to rediscover femininity in a modern way” says Chris Gilbert, president of The Fashion Service, a retail adviser and trend tracking agency in New York.  Hale Bob is out of Los Angeles and Paris and Romeo Gigli is in Italy, so already we have an international flair like nobody’s business.  I’m all for flair and of course flare guns….If you see anything on my site please email for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure not to miss The Thrifters Boutique and please follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also click on to watch my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Highly educational for sure.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Betsey Johnson silk yellow dress + Laundry by Shelli Segal white dress = sassy.

2 very exciting dresses: Betsey Johnson yellow silk and Laundry by Shelli Segal white beaded dress and I mean exciting.  I keep going back and forth is it exciting or sexy?  I’m caving in and going with both.  Both dresses are super sleek and sexy and that’s exactly what you want.  Why waste your time just going half way when either one of these dresses will take you to the ball and back again !  This ultra light yellow silk short dress by Betsey Johnson sings songs of praise from me but anything Betsey Johnson designs usually does.  She is, patently, the quintessential New York City downtown designer; Edie Sedgwick was even her fit model at one time.  Edie Sedgwick can you believe that?  You have to …MUST …watch the Betsey Johnson discusses Edie Sedgwick YouTube video….it’s a must see video I promise.  Another reason to really treasure this American fashion star.  The white beaded Laundry by Shelli Segal sexy dress is the perfect dress for any occasion. Both dresses are short and sweet, showing the right amount of skin.  If I could wiggle my nose and make things appear I would want these Robert Clergerier platform wedge shoes to show up inside the thrift store.  These platform wedges look fantastic with either dress, if it’s even possible these heels elevate these dresses to a whole new universe.  If interested in any item on my blog please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique too.  Please follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook, also click on and watch my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Striped Theory cotton top with David Meister skirt and a white Bebe jacket to top things off….

I love mixing patterns and prints, always have -  always will.  I love this short sleeve Theory striped cotton top, it’s the perfect summer top for sure but I really love it with this David Meister pattern skirt.  I anchored everything nicely by putting on this white Bebe cotton jacket, it ties everything up nice and neatly.  This ensemble, I curated from the thrift store, are 3 recycled luxury brand items that came out of the same thrift store.  Oh yes indeed…  I’m always blown away when I find a David Meister item in a thrift store, I mean his creations are sold at Saks, Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, can it get any better than that???  Those department stores are the cream of the crops and yet I ended up getting this gorgeous skirt for a fraction of a fraction and then again a fraction of the cost…..  I’ll tell you this,  no one today has to spend major bucks for luxury, it’s all around us if only we look in the right places.  Interested in any item on my blog please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Don’t forget to check out The Thrifters Boutique and please follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please click on and watch my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.   Daniel

Diane von Furstenberg silk blouse with 7 for all Mankind black denim skirt…

All I kept thinking when I plucked this DVF silk blouse from the rack was ‘why wasn’t this a wrap dress esp. with this pattern?????.’  Then I started to feel guilty for even thinking that because as it stands now the GODS gave me this gorgeous DVF blouse and I had the nerve to ask for something more…..  Sometimes my thoughts don’t swing in perfect balance.  I absolutely love this pattern, it’s so rich and regal looking, I love all the dark colors and then there is that pop of turquoise, it’s delicious…  Yet I wanted more, shame on me….  I don’t know who gave this DVF silk blouse up or why but let me just say thank you right now…  This blouse would look exquisite with your favorite pair of black skinny jeans or legging all you would need is a simple clutch and a great pair of heels and off to the races you would go…  I put this blouse with this black 7 for all Mankind denim skirt with a slit in front because I really wanted to give this ensemble a comfortable feel and touch.  Who doesn’t love denim and who doesn’t love a 7 for all Mankind denim skirt???  I can’t think of anyone I know.  Both the Diane von Furstenberg silk blouse and 7 for all Mankind skirt are luxury brands that sell in major department stores and in their own boutiques and are classic and everlasting.  If you see any item on my blog please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Don’t forget to check out The Thrifters Boutique and please follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook, also please click on and watch my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

SoCa by St. John colorful top with linen Tory Burch shorts….

I literally flipped when I saw this label SoCa by St. John, I mean this is a incredible piece.  In 2008 St John expanded a line to include a young contemporary line called SoCa.  Hoping to reach a younger audience, SoCa offered a casual but not too beachy approach to clothing compared to St. John’s traditional and refined designs.  SoCa is based on the Southern California lifestyle, but with a sophisticated urban edge.  Retail prices ranged from $195 to $295 for tops and pants.  Now the sad thing is that when you go to St. John’s website and type in SoCa it will come up as ‘there are no SoCa products available at this time.’  From all the designs of SoCa I’ve seen online it would be a shame if St. John stopped manufacturing this line.  This abstract top I found is made of rayon and spandex so it gives the body a little extra boost of contour.  I love that it’s collarless and I love the cut of the sleeves and of course don’t forget that waistband at the bottom, that just gives this top a little extra kick in the fashion pants.  Horrible mistake if St. John stopped this division.  I put this top with these gorgeous sassy chic Tory Burch navy linen shorts, they are super STYLISH and dashing.  I think these Roger Vivier black patent leather “Hello Coco” flats are just the ticket to push this ensemble over the edge.  Who doesn’t want to go over the edge today?  I always feel like I’m on the edge and I’ve grown rather comfortable there.  If there is anything on my blog that you are interested in please email for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also don’t forget to check out my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

A Peroni white top and a black Butsina top that look sleek with this black silk long Paul Alexander skirt….

2 of the 3 items I have never heard of before but that didn’t stop me from buying them.  What I found charming about the first item, the white cotton Peroni top with rhinestone on the letters, was the obvious it said right there on the front “Italy”.  So I gathered this rhinestone studded tee up and thought to myself “what in the hell am I buying this for?”  I rationalized to myself that this top is cotton and is actually on the campy side of life.  Grant it I’m not a heavy drinker but I do like a good beer every now and then especially during the hot days of summer.  Peroni is just your classic Italian beer that is a staple in Italy, it’s like our Miller beer here in the USA.  Big ok….  Italians have always been into fashion and design imagine the highlights of the 80′s and you will picture an accompanying wardrobe of Italian fashion.  Armani jeans and crisp white t-shirts, the rhinestone explosions of Versace jackets or the ridiculous curves of a Dolce & Gabbana corset dress.  And then, a little later, in the 90′s the accompanying apparel to a decade of prosperity was glamorous Gucci silks and Pucci prints.  It was during these decades that the Italian fashion house seized control of the international fashion scene. I know I got way off course here but what I’m saying is that the Italian do everything with passion and STYLE.  I found this Butsina black cotton with spandex top, made in Paris, and again wasn’t aware of this label and Google provided me with little or absolutely no help at all.  So when it came for me to actually put these 2 tops with a bottom it was easy once I discovered this black silk long skirt by, again someone I have no idea who, Paul Alexander.  I love how it ties at the side and the length of the skirt, just fashionable and gorgeous. Both tops work excellent together with the long black silk skirt, one top looks campy while the other looks STYLISH.  2 excellent choices that can make 1 tasteful ensemble.  Speaking of Italy what better shoe than these Pucci flats made in Italy and would work magic. Interested in any item on my blog please email for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

White Laundry by Shelli Segal blouse with khaki Theory skirt and an abstract modern design by Calvin Klein sweater.

I know it’s a very rare occasion that I even mention Calvin Klein on my blog and I’ll get into that later…. I will either mention his name when I find a great piece ‘made in Italy’ or like this sweater that has a contemporary twist.  This white sweater with graduating shades of gray,  for me being an artist,  is gorgeous no doubt.  I’m just going to get my opinion up front and over with here.  When I was a teenager in south Texas in the early 80′s Calvin Klein had just came out with the HOTTEST pair of jeans known to mankind at that time.  I mean to own a pair of Calvin’s at the moment was a huge status symbol because they were very expensive at the time.  I remember I had to have a pair or 2 and they retailed for ….  get this…. $45 which back in the early 80′s was a butt load of serious cash for anyone.  Me being in high school at the time just had to have them.  At the beginning you couldn’t get your hands on them they were like the Apple iPhone or iPad of today.  So hot… don’t you remember those Brooke Shields commercials?  Slowly but Shirley Calvin Klein added his name to everything under the sun, I mean it was on toilet paper to trash bags and to me at that moment I watched one of America’s favorite designers sell his name down the river.  Don’t get me wrong I’m all about marketing and making a buck but at what point does a designer say enough with the licensing?  Another great example was Pierre Cardin, now he really did license his name to toilet paper…  Now that that’s off my chest I can actually get back to my posting here.  I found this classic white cotton button down Laundry by Shelli Segal blouse and the khaki skirt is Theory.  The Laundry white blouse with the khaki Theory skirt just together look smart and classic but for that added splash of creativity I’m going with this Calvin Klein light weigh sweater to add an extra punch of brilliance.  So the only thing that got between me and my Calvin’s was the flood of his name.  If there is anything on my blog that you are interested in please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Les Copains silk camisole + BCBG wrap top and a gorgeous Vivienne Tam psychedelic skirt….

Girls you can get your groove on with this gorgeous sheer Les Copains silk camisole like there is no tomorrow.  This piece is rock hard fabulous that puts the sex back in SEXy.  Love the light blue sheer silk of this camisole absolutely LOVE IT.  Les Copains is one of the most well known and reliable names in ready to wear fashion in Italy and throughout the world.  The brand name was created in the late 50′s and takes its name from the title of a popular French radio show, “Salut Les Copains.”  Since its founding, Les Copains has always been considered a symbol of the “made in Italy” tradition in terms of creativity, industrial technique and quality.  I put the camisole with this raspberry BCBG wrap cotton top that I think is so versatile it hurts.  Everyone needs a sleek looking wrap top and what better than this BCBG raspberry color?  Just the color alone is regal and R$CH.   Hands down one of the best looking skirts I have seen in awhile is this psychedelic black,  with netting at bottom,  Vivienne Tam.  Vivienne Tam has become well known for creating beautiful clothes that appeal to all ages, ethnicities and income levels.  She has earned the reputation for offering a stylish and high quality product while at the same time inviting the consumer to experience the inspiration behind it.  This complete ensemble looks sophisticated while appearing modern and young.  It’s a gorgeous outfit that’s all I can say about it.  You could wear this to your PTA meeting or dinner at the Four Seasons and you would be the envy of the crowd.  Don’t you love that?  If there is anything on my blog that peeks your interest please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Nicole Miller white on white 2 piece formal dress suit + Michael Kors pink top made in Italy.

Stop right now if you think this Nicole Miller 2 piece white on white formal dress suit ensemble is a bit on the “old lady” side of life.  No offense to old ladies out there.  Sometimes a white on white ensemble might get construed as to sophisticated – to “formal”.  Hold everything and every thought right now.  The magical thing about this 2 piece Nicole Miller dress suit is that yes for a nice formal occasion such as a wedding this outfit is perfect.   You can also just wear the dress without the jacket and a great pair of heels such as these Robert Clergerie Boom wedges and be known as the woman with a sophisticated STYLE.  I found this gorgeous abstract modern pink top by Michael Kors, made in Italy, that would look so damn fantastic just with the jacket.  Put on and a great pair of brown skinny jeans and those Robert Clergerie wedges with this Michael Kors pink top and throw on that jacket and you would need to call 911 because the emergency is “this woman is on fire.” I believe you can always funk things up and turn up the STYLE volume on just about anything if you have a little vision.  So don’t let the first look fool you by thinking it’s to formal or too “old looking” if you like you can always separate the outfit.   Put on a great pair of heels grab your clutch and go out and paint the town pink because you can add new life to just about anything.  If there is anything on my blog that you are interested in please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique on my blog and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Diane von Furstenberg silk blouse with Magaschoni white cotton capri pants….

I think this striped pattern is so modern and contemporary and it doesn’t hurt it’s by DVF either.  I LOVE Diane von Furstenberg or Diane Simone Michelle Halfin which was her birth name.  DVF was born in Brussels Belgium and studied economics at the University of Geneva in Switzerland.  When she was 18 she met Prince Egon of Furstenberg at the university, he was the elder son of a German prince and his first wife, an heiress to the Fiat automotive fortune.  They married in 1969 and the couple had 2 children.  In 1970, with a $30,000 investment, she began designing women’s clothes.  The rest is fashion history.  So you know when this striped silk blouse showed its face to me I came unglued.   You can do a lot with this blouse but I’m really digging these white Magaschoni capri pants that just happened to be inside the same thrift store.  Nice I know…..  Magaschoni is a ultra chic label and has always emphasized an interest in philanthropic work that benefits those in need.  Here are some of the charities they are actively involved with: The Center for Discovery, Southampton Fresh Air Home, Standing Tall, Skip of New York, Susan G Komen and Step Up.  This is also a company that is eco friendly, their organic cottons are offered in both basic silhouettes as well as novelty sweaters with the one of a kind detailing Magaschoni products are consistently known for.  Now that’s STYLISH.  I think this union of the DVF silk blouse and the Magaschoni capri pants is a union made in heaven.  If interested in any item you see on my blog please email me for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel
