2 very different dresses: t-bags short abstract dress & Nicole Miller long formal burgundy dress….

I have 2 very different dresses to showcase here : one is short, sassy and sweet and the other is gracious, gorgeous and glammed up big time.  I love having such wide open diversity, I love having options for my clients and both of these dresses do just that.  The first dress is the short strapless abstract cotton by t-bags Los Angeles which is the creative vision of 2 young designers – Shadi Askari and Su-Lyn Tay epitomizes sexy, sophisticated and instinctive style.  This brand was started in 2001 as a handbag line and has not slowed down for one second.  t-bags crosses the border from retro and rock-star glamour to a unique blend of playful sophistication.  With a great pair of flats this dress can take my client on one STYLISH trip and who doesn’t want to travel these days??  The second ensemble is this full length sleeveless Nicole Miller New York formal burgundy dress and I do mean formal, but in a modern way, not the old ridged formal way….  This Nicole Miller dress still had the price tag of $270.00 dangling in the wind, I love when I find items in the thrift store that still have the original tags on them…. It’s a gift….I strongly suggest that you click on the Nicole Miller link and check out her Fall 2010 collection, this designer is the high priestess of fashion.  I also love the fact that t-bags is located in Los Angeles and Nicole Miller is New York,  bi coastal in a big way…  Interested in any item please email for price, additional photos and measurements and be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

ABS by Allen Schwartz sexy wrap dress….

I’m having a flashback and I swear to you no drugs are involved.  It was 1980 and I was in high school in south Texas in a tiny town called Raymondville, you drive right by it on your way to South Padre Island and if you blink you’ll miss the entire town.  It was right there at that moment where I encountered my first fashionista and her name was Camille.  Camille was from an affluent family,  her father was a very successful attorney and one of the nicest classiest men of all times.  Camille was just like her father, kind hearted that always wore a smile but Camille wore that smile with the most amazing clothes, shoes and handbags money could buy in the 80′s….  Camille was one of these people that just exuded STYLE and class, she didn’t have to open her mouth for you to know she had “it”.  Camille would take family vacations to Europe with her parents during the summers and always come back with the biggest Gucci or Louis Vuitton bags you could buy.  She would wear Calvin Klein denim skirts which at that time cost a fortune, Lacoste dresses and polo shirts, but what I remember the most were her Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses which brings me to this blog posting.  When I spotted this simple chic ABS by Allen Schwartz wrap dress it took me down memory lane and that explains why I am having a flashback here.  DVF invented the little wrap dress, she was the original but no matter how you slice this luscious fruit a wrap dress is a wrap dress and they never go out of STYLE.  I haven’t seen Camille in 30 years but one thing I know for sure is having great taste for luxury never leaves the soul.   I’m sure wherever she is today she is dressed with great STYLE and armed with a pleasant smile.  All items on my blog are for sale so please email me and make sure you click on The Thrifters Boutique. White cotton Tory Burch top with brown rayon Marc Bouwer bottom it’s a win win situation….

At this point my new mannequin still doesn’t have a name and I feel really sorry for her.  Maybe I should call her Mutt or maybe Stray because if she were an animal and ran around free without a name that’s what we would call them….No Mutt & Stray doesn’t sound very STYLISH….  Ok back to my post….  I’ll tell you I was very happy and flattered that I found the white cotton Tory Burch top but I’m going to be honest with you about the Marc Bouwer brown rayon skirt, I literally pissed in my pants !  There I was honest with you….  I had never found a Marc Bouwer item before so this comes as a news flash “It’s historic”.  Anna Torv from Fringe wore his gown at the Emmys, Angelina worn one to the Oscars and the big O worn one of his gowns to host The Emmy’s.  He’s big really big.  As a child, Marc Bouwer was fascinated by the movies and the beautiful women of Hollywood.  Shortly after arriving in NYC, he met fashion legend Halston and you’re going to LOVE this…. What happens next may have been Marc’s own first Hollywood moment: “I think you got something, kid!” were Halston’s memorable words after seeing Marc’s portfolio.  Halston offered him a job and the young designer’s future began to unfold.  Under Halston, Marc refined his skills, becoming a master draper.  The Marc Bouwer Couture collection is cut and made by hand, one to two pieces at a time.  I have a huge love and fanfare for Halston so anytime I read a story about this fashion icon I’m all putty.  The white cotton Tory Burch top and Marc Bouwer skirt together give the feel of comfort and yet sophistication, which is always a winner, you can wear this to any casual event and stand out because people will notice the detailing.  If interested in any item on my blog please email for price, additional photos and measurements and be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Sexy seductive Ema Savahl dress…

I’m no longer a virgin.  Yes you heard it straight from the horse’s mouth I have found my very first Ema Savahl dress which knocks me off the virgin block.  Believe me you don’t find this label everyday inside a thrift store but for some reason the GODS were with me and holding my hand.  Ema Koja is not just in the fashion business, her work is about color, line and composition: it’s expressly wearable art and without limitations.  Where there could be plain lace, there’s delicate applique.  Ema Koja’s a true artist who has a strong sense of pattern, fit and color.  Ema once worked with Blumarine which is another favorite brand of mine.  It’s to bad the GODS were squeezing my hands harder so that I could find these Alexander McQueen heels inside the thrift store too….  Am I asking for to much???  If you see any item on my blog you are interested in please email for price, additional photos and measurements and be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique opened daily.  Follow me on Twitter & Facebook and enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.   Toodles for now.  Daniel

Sleek French Connection top with sassy silk Bebe bottom ooh la la…

Yes what’s her name is still modeling for me and I’m desperately seeking a name instead of Susan…  My eyes bugged out when I first felt this blouse and then saw the French Connection tag still on the rayon top.  This top doesn’t even feel like rayon it feels more like cotton with rayon, it’s just so super soft.  I absolutely love the zipper on the back as you can see from detail photo.  This top still had the Bloomingdale’s $98 tag on it and you know I didn’t pay anywhere near that neighborhood.  This brand was founded in 1972 by Stephen Marks and creates well designed, fashionable clothing that appeals to a broad range of customers.  In 2001, French Connection began branding their clothes “fcuk” (usually written in lowercase).  Apparently they first discovered the acronym when a fax was sent from their Hong Kong store, entitled “FCHK to FCUK”.  Though they insisted it was an acronym for French Connection United Kingdom, its similarity to the word “f*ck” cause controversy.  The gimmick obviously worked because sales shot through the roof.  I paired this FCUK top with this gorgeous silk skirt by Bebe.  Speaking of the the way it feels, I love the way silk feels on the body, its so sexy and sassy….  With the right heels and clutch this woman could really skyrocket to the stratosphere.  If there is any item that interest you please email for price, additional photos and measurements and be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique first.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook, and enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.   Toodles for now.   Daniel

Sexy and chic long black dress by Laundry by Shelli Segal and a Warhol’ish wild print Theory shirt with orange Bebe slacks….

I got super lucky with this long formal SEXY black dress by Laundry by Shelli Segal because I have a client that has been looking for the perfect high volume black dress and now I found it.  I love the off the shoulder spaghetti string front and click on the detail photo so you can see the cut out in the backside.  Gorgeous I tell you just gorgeous.  Talk about walking into some party wearing this black sexed up dress and cranking up the temperature….ooh la la is all I can say……  I hope the fire department aren’t on strike that night….  Every woman needs to have that certain dress,  that bring out the animal magnetism,  and this dress is that lethal weapon….  I’m a huge fan of this brand because every item I see is brilliantly constructed and flawlessly designed.  The other ensemble I put together is a man’s Theory wild ass Warhol’ish floral design pattern and these orange Bebe slacks.  I LOVE this man’s Theory shirt, I know I keep stressing the fact that it’s a man’s shirt opposed to a woman’s blouse but who cares, it’s hot, sexy, wild and most important draws eyes in your direction….  These orange Bebe 2 front pockets slacks are chic with a splash of elegance.  If you needed a jacket I would recommend your simple black Jil Sander.  With the right kind of flats this woman could make the werewolves come after her with this little number….. If you see anything on my blog that interests you please email for price, additional photos and measurements and of course be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique. J. McLaughlin blouse with sky blue Prada linen jacket….

It really isn’t every day that I not only find a Prada linen jacket but a blouse that matches the color to perfection.  Both are from the same thrift store to boot which makes my work so much easier.  I first found the blouse which is by J. McLaughlin button up and here is the story about this brand.  Brothers Jay and Kevin McLaughlin opened their first store 32 years ago at 74th Street and 3rd Avenue on New York’s Upper Ease side.  From the moment they opened their doors J. McLaughlin established itself as a classic American brand featuring a flair for bold colors and prints.  You can obviously see that with this blouse.  As I continued on my stroll throughout the thrift store I ran my fingers across the jacket section and ‘voila’ out jumped this sky blue linen Prada 3 button jacket.  At this point it’s really hard to control my salivating…after all it’s Prada.  After taking over her grandfathers Mario Prada’s Italian leather goods business in 1978, Miuccia Prada began to change the way people viewed fashion.  Every aspect of production – from the buttons of a coat to the design of a New York flagship (with the help of architect Rem Koolhaas) – benefits from the careful eye and deliberate study of “Mrs. Prada.”  I love the fact that I first found the blouse and next came the jacket and both recycled luxury brand items had that same exact shade of sky blue.  I hit the nail right on the head or is that vice-versa???  If there is any item you might be interested in on my blog please email for price, additional photos and measurements and also check out The Thrifters Boutique.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and please click on and enjoy my YouTube videos.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Snap button up metallic dress by Eileen Fisher….

I’m having a really hard time naming my new mannequin.  One moment I’ll call her Matilda then I’ll call her Barbarella so you see my dilemma.  It’s a hard decision to come up with a name for this mannequin since I’ll be spending alot of my time with her.  If you have any great name suggestions please let me know, I’ll consider anything at this moment.  The one thing I do know for sure is that this metallic snap button up dress by Eileen Fisher is ultra STYLISH.  What I find very STYLISH about Eileen Fisher other than this dress is the fact that her company upports women-owned business program by giving leadership grants.  It’s Eileen’s business program for women entrepreneurs because it is widely knows that Eileen Fisher started her company with $350 and a vision.  Eileen will tell you it was much more.  “Life-fulling work is never about the money-when you feel true passion for something, you instinctively find ways to nurture it,” explains Eileen.  “Looking back at my life, I see it was the support and inspiration of friends that kept me moving forward.  Financial support is crucial, but even more meaningful is the energy behind the money-when someone trusts your vision and truly believes in you.”  So now knowing this about Eileen Fisher and her support for  human rights, supporting women grants and communities the love factor has just increased.  So getting back to ‘what’s her name’ I’m sending out an S.O.S for creative and colorful names….  If there is any item on my blog that you are interested in please email for price, additional photos and measurements and be sure to click on The Thrifters Boutique.  Please follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

3 very hot and spicy dresses: JuJu & b, Mag Couture & BCBG and each one is on fire….

Each one of these dresses are on fire and I mean on fire, they are hot, sassy, chic and most important SEX-y.  2 of the 3 dresses I had never heard of before, never saw their labels in a thrift store, never heard about them…nothing.  That didn’t stop me from buying them because each dress offers up tons of STYLE and tons of fun.  The first dress I found was the pink cotton with silk sleeveless dress that poufs, it’s a pouf dress, that reminded me of an early Christian Lacroix, and is Mag Couture.  Never heard of it but I know good STYLE when I see it so I grabbed it and liberated it from the thrift store.  Second dress was the yellow dress made of spandex that reminded me of The Beatles – Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club band video. Watch the video and tell me otherwise….  Love the color combination and fabric, this dress is definitely HOT.  Finally I found this black BCBG spaghetti string Stevie Nick’ish dress, whom I LOVE…..  I think it’s very STYLISH to be open to new labels and names, remember it’s really all about the way the ensemble is styled and put together.  With the right heels any of these 3 dresses could look like a million bucks, say for example these Giuseppe Zanotti wedge boots, made in Italy, that are ferociously fabulous….  If there is any item on my blog that you are interested in please email for price, additional photos and measurements and be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Robert Graham mens shirt with Alain Manoukian long navy skirt….

Here is a little inside tip next time you hit a thrift store don’t assume that the clothing is arranged in their proper places….. Here is what I am talking about , when I found this gorgeous Robert Graham shirt I initially thought it was a woman’s blouse because I was actually in the women’s section of the thrift store.  I picked it up because I of course recognized the label and I thought the pattern and fabric was beautiful.  Then I noticed that the buttons were on the right side of the shirt so this technically makes this not a blouse but instead a shirt.  I know that sounds so anal and believe me I am not into buttons on the left side make a women’s blouse and buttons on the right side make a man’s shirt blah blah blah…..  All that sounds so boring to me and who really gives a crap which side of the aisle the buttons are on…left ….right….I believe that if a shirt or blouse is FAB then buy it, wear it and enjoy it.  Getting all that out of the way I found this beautiful Robert Graham SHIRT that has the most gorgeous inside fabric around the collar and cuffs..  The inside fabric design is like a Georges Seurat painting.  The style of artwork Seurat is widely known for is called ‘pointillism’ which is a technique of painting in which small dots of pure color are applied in patterns to form an image.  I then found this navy long stretch skirt by Alain Manoukian that looks like it was meant to be worn with the Robert Graham SHIRT.   Alain Manoukian is a leading French designer, distributor and retailer of ready to wear fashions, with an emphasis on knitwear.  A woman could wear this Robert Graham mens SHIRT with this Alain Manoukian long navy skirt and feel totally at ease.  I mean woman have always worn mens clothing and they look FAB in it, it’s acceptable for women to wear mens clothing but not the other way around…hummmm  food for thought….  If there is anything on my blog that you are interested in please email for price, additional photos and measurements and also check out The Thrifters Boutique.  Please follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and also enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

James Perse teal tank that looks spendid with a Lilly Pulitzer shorts & Trina Turk skirt…

God I know some of you are going to hate me for saying this but here it comes “I’m not normally a big fan of Lilly Pulitzer!” There I know it wasn’t easy to hear or actually to say for that matter but the truth is I’m not a fan of this brand.  To preppy for my taste…. I guess I’ve always found this brand to be a bit on the boring and tired side of life but these seersucker shorts with the a pink trim are just to lively for words.  Lilly Pulitzer was born into socialite family in New York, her mother was an heir to the Standard Oil fortune.  Throughout the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s Lilly’s bright colorful clothes were very popular (certainly not by me).  For some reason I really like these shorts with the seersucker lime green with white stripes and pink trim.  They are made with cotton and spandex and you know I love my spandex, so maybe that’s it?  Certainly I’m not preppy or even preppy at heart so who knows maybe it’s just the fact that these are so well made and classic???  I’ll never know for sure.  I also found this pink pool side skirt made of cotton and lycra by Trina Turk.  Doesn’t this skirt look like it was made to just hang out and live next to the pool?  It’s so Palm Springs isn’t it?  Palm Springs is a fabulous place to visit, so much going on in that town….  I put the shorts and skirt with this teal cotton tank top by James Perse, who I think is brilliant.  I love mixing teal and pink together, talk about 2 colors that really compliment each other nicely.  I guess if I saw some woman wearing these Lilly Pulitzer shorts with white tennis shoes then I’d probably hurl my lunch but if you put these Adidas Y-3 by Yohji Yamamoto wedge shoes on, I promise I will keep my lunch!!!  Talk about capturing the future with these shoes, so fantastic I can’t stand up straight.  If there is any item you like on my blog please email for price, additional photos and measurements.  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook.  Enjoy my YouTube videos too.  Toodles for now.   Daniel

Rayure striped zip blouse with Cambio denim capri pants…..

Always remember this name ‘Rayure’ when you are out pillaging thrift stores like I do daily….   This is a fabulous French company that manufactures incredible designs.  Rayure is based on a timeless fashion design concept of black and white color, which took influence from “stripes”.  It is also realization of a young French designer’s dream and the unification of a couple’s love in 1993.  Cindy Benhamou was fascinated by the wonderful world of fashion from a very young age and became a designer by the influence of her grandmother who was a seamstress.  Rayure has grown to be an international and luxury niche brand over the years….so always remember this label while out thrifting.   This zipper black and white striped blouse is so versatile, you can wear something underneath and use it as a jacket or simply use this as a zipper blouse.  Fabuloso ! Their clothes are made in France and this blouse is made with cotton and nylon, a little bit of stretch goes a long ways today….We are all learning how to stretch more!!!!  So why not stretch in STYLE.  Speaking of stretch these khaki gray capri pants by Cambio have some spandex in them too,  so everything is stretching these days with great STYLE.  The key to Cambio’s appeal is its unique combination of excellent fit, quality fabric and equal attention to easy comfort and sophisticated style.  Comfort does not require compromise.  The Cambio fit complements a women’s body.  One way and two way stretch fabric in their jeans ensure a natural form fitting effect with easy movement.  Today everything is about comfort and STYLE and if you can collect these great recycled luxury brands out of a thrift store, more power to you, you’re my kind of woman!  If there is any item you see on my daily blog please email for price, additional photos and measurements and also check out The Thrifters Boutique.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and don’t forget to watch my YouTube videos on thrifting, they are a hoot.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

One ultra simple ensemble: Theory silk camisole and Tahari cotton skirt…it’s so chic it hurts….

This blog is about the 2 T’s brands: Theory & Tahari, T&T or TT, however you want to squeeze this it’s one simple chic ensemble.  This Theory silk with spandex camisole is one R$CH color to begin with and then layer that with the comfort factor and you’ve kick the ball out of the ball park….  Theory has built its reputation – and a bit of a cult following – on designs that are simply luxurious, affordable, and almost exactly what you want to wear right now. To really jazz things up a notch I found this Tahari cotton skirt with a wild abstract floral print that just so happened to have the exact color as the Theory camisole in the skirt !!  It’s a winner and we all love winners….  For Elie Tahari’s Fall 2010 collection he said “my inspiration was a woman traveling the world in style, like Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express.”  I’ll tell you something right now Marlene Dietrich and I share the exact birthday, not year, so I’ve always loved this STYLISH woman.  So when I read that quote about this Israeli-born designer who has built a sizable global brand with his polished, just trendy enough separates about Marlene Dietrich well it made me want to pucker up….  For a designer to draw inspiration from Dietrich says a lot about his passion.  Getting back to this outfit I just think it’s simple, sassy, chic and classic.  I think these Adidas by Stella McCartney sporty ballerina flats are perfect with this ensemble, it’s just to bad I wasn’t able to pillage them from a thrift store…. If there is any item you see on my blog please email me for price, additional photos and measurements and of course check out The Thrifters Boutique.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook, and enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Michael Stars white tee with Zanella wool slacks and a Bernard Zins quilted brown jacket…

If my client wore this ensemble to lunch at the Four Seasons, a PTA meeting or to the ballet I could guarantee her that a few heads would turn in her direction or her money back.  I know that sounds like I’m totally full of myself but will you just look at this outfit????  Starting from the top, the off white tee is by Michael Stars and if you don’t already own a few of his tees what in the world are you waiting for?  This company is the king of the t-shirt companies…. They seriously make t-shirts that are fashionable, stylish and most importantly comfortable.  Moving south these light brown and ultra light weigh wool slacks are by Zanella.  Since originating in Italy in the late 50′s, Zanella has been synonymous with high quality men’s and women’s sartorial trousers.  Zanella entered the USA market in 1978 as a men’s trouser resource.  Zanella is particularly known for the exceptional fit and quality of their garments.  These 2 items look flattering together and if you needed a jacket for the evening,  this quilted chocolate Bernard Zins made in Italy, will do nicely.  Bernard Zins is another company that is known for fabric quality and fit.  R$CH and elegant what more could you ask for????  Stop I can’t get you a convertible Bentley……  This ensemble is understated chic but most importantly this outfit is designed for comfort and of course a few head turns….If there is anything on my blog that you are interested in please email me for price, additional photos and measurements but first stop by The Thrifters Boutique and see what they have inside.  Follow me daily on Twitter & Facebook and enjoy my YouTube videos.  Toodles for now.   Daniel

Cynthia Steffe 2 piece dress suit and Proposte Italian abstract masterpiece blouse….

White is one of my favorite colors, the other being orange, and I believe white is a year round color.  I know we all have heard that dreadful comment about not wearing white passed Labor day and not until Easter and my thoughts are this “are we back in the 50′s ?”  I have often wondered who started that obnoxious statement and why did it stick with us for so long?  To me when I even hear someone make that comment it’s like running your fingernails over a chalk board.  Who deemed this idiot all the power that designers actually follow this fools ‘opinion’ about white and bowed?  Ok I know I’m on my soapbox now so I’ll get back to this gorgeous white eyelet fabric 2 piece dress suit.  This sassy little number is beautiful and I love the fact that this skirt is ultra short, making it even SEXier. In the 2 years since Shaun Kearney’s been at creative helm of Cynthia Steefe, several of the country’s biggest retailers have renewed their previously dormant accounts.  What is he doing right?  Absorbing elements of street style, turning out modern looks that add a touch of edge to the brand’s sweet silhouettes.   I found this Italian silk long sleeve blouse by Proposte made in Milan that has a abstract modern masterpiece design.  I love this art blouse for the simple fact that it’s a little on the artistic side of life and therefore I believe wearing this off white silk piece of art blouse underneath the Cynthia Steefe suit will really bring on the WOW factor.  We like the WOW factor….  What’s I’m saying here white reflects nicely it looks clean and elegant no matter if it’s spring, summer, fall or winter.  It’s only a color and a fabulous one at that.  If there is an item you are interested in please email for price, additional photos and measurements and be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique first.  Follow my daily adventures on Twitter & Facebook and also enjoy my YouTube videos.  Toodles for now.   Daniel
