Being STYLISH on Memorial Day.

I believe there are 2 ways to be STYLISH: one is of course the exterior (what we wear to show the world) and the second is the interior( how we feel about ourselves internally).  Today on our national holiday here in the USA so take the extra time to jazz up your ensemble for today, be creative and cut loose from conformity.  Break out that special item you have hidden in your closet thinking one day you’ll wear it… today is that day.  As for the interior part of being STYLISH really and truly put love inside of you.  I’m not a preaching kind of a man here,  all I believe is that when love is inside of you,  it just resonates.  Love brings self confidence and who doesn’t look totally FABULOUS wearing that??  Now go out today and look like a million dollars and feel like you’re worth a billion!!  Toodles for now.  Daniel

BCBG culotte, Theory skirt, Ellen Tracy slacks with vintage Italian clutch.

What I found during this thrifting escapade were a pair of culottes, skirt, slacks and one vintage Italian wicker clutch, it was a busy day.  The BCBG smoky blue culottes size 2 still have the original tag with price of $146.00 just innocently dangling.  Founded in 1989 BCBG by Max Azria  is taking the world by storm.  With critically acclaimed collections, a loyal following of Hollywood’s top celebrities and a strong worldwide presence, this fashion powerhouse has evolved into one of the hottest names in the fashion industry today.  Next item I found was this Theory black skirt size 12 with a long slit that makes this skirt even more stylish and voguish.  Theory continues to evolve and grow its global presence while remaining grounded in its founding principles: a simple design philosophy, clean silhouettes, quality, craftsmanship and fit.  These Ellen Tracy petite 0 wool / rayon slacks are clean line and modern by design.  Today the brand Ellen Tracy is having some financial issues, Neiman Marcus and Saks both used to carried this brand,  today it’s been demoted to Macy’s.   I wonder how does a company that used to a moderately priced brand once sold in these exclusive department stores lose that edge?  Food for thought??  Finally I found this gorgeous vintage Valerie, made in Italy,  wicker clutch trimmed with Lucite.  This clutch can easily go with the culotte, skirt and slacks with the right accessory aka the shoes !  Be sure to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also enjoy my YouTube videos on thrift store finds.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Ben Sherman with Trina Turk & Barney’s with Michael Kors now that’s just glamorous.

I wanted to put together 2 casual but chic ensembles,  after all isn’t dressing casual supposed to be chic?  I think so, even when you take the trash to the curb don’t you want to look your best, hell I even garden in Armani and Paul Smith so there is no excuse for looking frumpy.  My first grouping is a Ben Sherman size medium white cotton stretch French cuff shirt with these long walking shorts by Trina Turk size 6.  I think these 7 For All Mankind flats would look excellent with this outfit, bring it home Alex Rodriguez bring it home.  My second casual outfit is this elegant and so soft cotton Barney’s New York, made in Italy,  size small blue button up blouse and these killer Michael Kors black denim zipper front and back pockets size 6 jeans.  I think these Stella McCartney for Adidas sporty ballerina flats are what every woman needs in her shoe closet.  What I truly do believe is that with the right shoes you can take any outfit and go from casual to super chic in a New York second.  Stop by The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.   Daniel

2 black dresses for Johnny Cash’s funeral: Nicole Miller & A.B.S by Allen Schwartz.

I guess if anyone needed a black dress for Johnny Cash’s funeral I’m a little late.  I love the fact that I found 2 gorgeous simple black dresses in one swoop.  The first one I grabbed was this beautifully designed Nicole Miller sexy and seductive size 2 dress.  I have always thought Nicole Miller was an innovative creative genius and taking one look at this dress you would agree.  The second dress is this A.B.S by Allen Schwartz button up size medium.  A.B.S affordable luxury caters to the contemporary woman’s never-ending craving for fashion.  Whether at work or play, with the fabric quality and attention to detail found in this designer collections you can easily see why Allen Schwartz has loads of loyal followers.  The first A.B.S retail store was launched in Santa Monica, CA in 1988 and since has set the fashion world on fire.  If you were wearing either of these black dresses to a funeral,  you need a splash of color,  and what better color than these red Alexander McQueen heels????  Wearing those shoes with either black dress would be deafening.  Check out The Thrifter Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please watch my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Laundry by Shelli Segal dresses and Armani Exchange capri pants.

Not one but two spaghetti string Laundry by Shelli Segal dresses were hanging out at the thrift store waiting for me to breath new life into them.  It’s a job and someone has to do it so and I’m up to the task of bring a little salvation.  The first Laundry dress was the silk lilac with pink and purple small flowers embroidery size 8.  The second Laundry dress was the royal purple linen with a small slit on the left side that has a trail of various shades of pink flowers  on the bottom border that goes up the dress and it’s a size 2.  Both dresses are breathtakingly beautiful, simple, chic and timeless.  I then found these Armani Exchange black capri pants with spandex size 2.  A/X Armani Exchange is accessible Armani, inspired by street-chic culture, fashionable dance music and everything that signifies freedom and personal style.  I think this Vivienne Westwood draped sleeveless blouse would look so chic it could actually do some damage.  Now if only I could find that in the thrift stores…I’m now on a mission so stand back Stevie Nicks !  Don’t forget to check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy yourself at my expense to my YouTube thrifting videos.  Toodles for now.   Daniel

Bebe blouse with Prada pleated skirt.

It isn’t everyday that I find a brand new Prada pleated skirt size 10 with the tag is still dangling.  You should have seen Umie and Sloan’s faces when I showed them this treasure while inside the thrift store.  Good God Almight talk about that Kodak moment, where is my camera when I need it?  This is exactly why I love thrifting, it’s these types of finds that bring me the ultimate high.  I know it’s rare and extremely  unusual to find brand new Prada skirts in thrift stores but it  happens and I can lay my hands down a stack of bibles aka Wallpaper magazines and tell you.  Walking around the thrift store with my Prada skirt in hand I was on the mission to find a complimentary blouse and I did with this Bebe blouse size medium.  For that much needed splash of color I think these Paul Smith flats are just the one way ticket you need.  Don’t forget to stop by The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Tory Burch dress with a Laundry by Shelli Segal jacket.

Umie’s pulled this Tory Burch dress from the rack and said ‘you know I was just looking at her website yesterday and here in my hands is her dress, isn’t that strange?’  I said Umie your psychic and you willed it to happen and she replied, ‘well then where is my Chanel handbag?’  In due time everything arrives, I truly believe that.  This Tory Burch dress size large was to big for Umie when she tried it on so she mournfully handed it over to moi.  Style.com Spring review of Tory Burch goes like this: “might Tory Burch be capable of saving the economy single-handedly?   Editors were acting like kids in a candy store at her Spring presentation:  They didn’t just like what they saw, they wanted to buy it.”  Moments later in the jacket section of the thrift store Umie finds this incredible cream Laundry jacket by Shelli Segal. This jacket is size 6 and in pristine condition, it makes you wonder who would have given this baby up?  This sexy knot pattern Tory Burch dress is so fabulous for the day and if you needed something extra for nighttime you can put this gorgeous Laundry jacket on and kick some butt.  I think these Roberto Cavalli platform peep toe pumps made in Italy are just what this ensemble needs to make that field goal ( not that I know anything about baseball).   Don’t forget to stop by The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Trina Turk butterfly dress and a Zuccaro gray blouse.

When Umie plucked this dress from the rack she turned to me and asked ‘do you like this pattern?’ and without skipping a beat answered ‘hell yes!’  She then showed me the Trina Turk label and we just came unglued.  Will you just look at that butterfly pattern, that to me is just so bold and enchanting.  It’s so off the chic chart its not even funny.  Can’t you just see someone wearing that dress at some ultra fancy Palm Springs pool party with these Proenza Schouler heels?  That would be one STYLISH pool party.  I found this Zuccaro gray long sleeve blouse that just looked so incredibly sophisticated.  I had never heard of this brand before but just loved the construction and it reminded me of something Jean Paul Gaultier or John Galliano would create.  On their website it says that Zuccaro is a unique fashion answer for a young savvy fashionable woman who looks for her own individual style.  Can I get an Amen up in here for that one?  One thing I know for sure and that is I hope I see this brand alot more in my future.  Stop in and say hello at The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.   Toodles for now.  Daniel

Vintage Stuart Lang abstract blouse with Nanette Lepore skirt and Ungaro black jacket.

I absolutely love mixing vintage with something modern, to me that screams confidence.  When I found this Stuart Lang vintage abstract blouse,  I thought it was super fabulous.  Every part of the blouse is a different pattern from the collar to the cuffs making this an original work of art.  I found this modern Nanette Lepore black and white embroidery skirt with bow on bottom size 6,  and knew immediately that this vintage blouse would look so fab together that I wouldn’t be able to stand it.  I love mixing patterns, colors and fabrics but that’s the artist in me.  To anchor everything down together nice and sweetly I found this Ungaro Liberte black jacket size 8.  Emanuel Ungaro joined Courreges, designing many of the 1960′s metal outfits of that house.  Courreges was a leading couturier of the 60′s and Ungaro’s designs met with great appreciation.  After six years learning his craft at Balenciaga, Ungaro opened his own fashion house in Paris in 1965.  Lately this brand has had some difficulties with creative directors and remember that unforgivable moment when the house appointed Lindsay Lohan as the artistic advisor? My sincere wish is Ungaro gets their mojo back and not a moment to soon.  Shop at The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Michael Stars tee with abstract floral Tahari skirt.

I really have to say I love finding Michael Stars tees and I believe it has to do with just how much I love his company and contributions.  Michael Stars is not only innovative in its designs, but also dedicated to humanitarian efforts.  The company is a regular supporter of numerous philanthropic events and charities.  In addition to the creation of co-branded designs for the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, YouthAIDS, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Michael Stars has assisted numerous charities in their fund-raising efforts including the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Best Buddies International, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and The Step Up Womens’ Network among others.  So the next time you need a new tee please think of Michael Stars, it would be the most STYLISH way to go.   I think this cotton Elie Tahari floral abstract pattern skirt size 10 looks so chic and put it with the Stars tee and it’s super charged.   This combination has the simple and understated elegance I believe is always classic.   Stop by and say hello at The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube thrifting videos.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

David Meister and Laundry by Shelli Segal can rock it.

I love it when Sloan and Umie join me hunting for luxury brands at the thrift stores, we always have one rock n’ roll day.  When you take a look at both of these dresses you’ll know that rock n’ roll was the flavor of the day.  The first dress I found was this David Meister black and white abstract flower sleeveless dress size 8.  David Meister is an esteemed American designer known for his sophisticated, yet body conscious, women’s wear.  David’s dresses, evening wear and couture red carpet designs have graced the contours of socialites and celebrities.  Alicia Keys, Diane Lane, Fergie, Tina Fey, Elizabeth Hurley and Sharron Stone are just a few.  Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Saks are top venues for David Meister Collection.  The next dress I found was this snake skin print Laundry by Shelli Segal halter dress size 2 with black leather cords that tie around the neck.  This dress has spandex in it so it’s meant to hug the body and make the world think you are a rock n’ roll star.  Sloan and Umie said that both are ‘temptress’ dresses.  Now what I think would look even more rock n’ roll are these Dolce & Gabbana heels with both dresses.  A woman wearing either dress with the D&G heels is a woman who takes everyone hostage, and someone I just might adore.  Stop in a say hi at The Thrifter Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Proenza Schouler for Target camisole with Escada pant suit now that’s sexy.

Just give me Proenza Schouler any damn day and I’m happy even if it’s their line for Target, these guys are brilliant beyond recognition.   The design team of Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough gravitated towards clothing that is young with a modern edge to it.  In light of this, it isn’t surprising to hear that they worked with Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs before joining up in 2002.  Their collection they designed for Target looked fun and was perfect with lots of bright colors and soft fabrics.  This sexy size large camisole is quintessential for Spring and I love the quilted breast covers, can’t you just see Madonna wearing this while lunching on a bed of lettuce and some Tic Tacs?  I can…  This 2 piece pant suit by Escada is way beyond breathtaking, make sure you click on to the photo that shows label and detail of buttons.  Every painstaking precise detail of this suit is impeccable.  It’s just sinful, I tell you just sinful.  With or without the jacket this is one major ensemble that screams out for the paparozzi !  I love the juxtaposition of this outfit, the ultra high end Escada and the high quality but lower priced line from Proenza Schouler for Target together.  It’s sharp, severe and so STYLISH.  Check out The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please check out my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Akris suit with silk Bebe Asian influenced blouse.

When I got home from thrifting with Umie I quickly called Sloan and said ‘you missed one hell of a thrifting day.’  When Umie and I arrived at a thrift store we divided up so quickly you would have thought someone had passed some bad gas!   She went in one direction and I conquered another and when we met in the middle she handed me this Akris dark gray jacket.  I laughed because I was holding the matching slacks in my hand.  Somehow when this suit entered the thrift store it got separated and it took Umie and I to reunite this magnificent Akris ensemble.  Akris has written over 80 years of history as the Swiss family company in St. Gallen.  With just one sewing machine, Albert und Peter Kriemier’s grandmother, Alice Kriemier-Schoch, laid the foundations for the current operation in 1922 and at first, made only aprons.  I quickly found this sexy Bebe Asian influenced silk blouse that I think looks like a winning combination.  I love the splash of red against this dark gray suit, I think it elevates the suit even further, if that’s even humanly possible.  Enjoy The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.   Toodles for now.   Daniel

Trina Turk black slacks with this jaw-dropping Italian abstract blouse.

Sloan didn’t join us thrifting today, she decided she needed to work instead…lets see work or thrifting with Daniel and Umie….HUH??  So Umie and I left her in a trail of dust and hit the stores.  I first found this abstract blouse that the label says D Made in Italy and I haven’t the foggiest idea who that is but I do know style and this blouse has tons of that.  It’s so stylish it’s off the style chart.  I held it up and showed Umie and I wished I had a camera so I could have captured her facial expression, it was priceless.  When I say this blouse is gorgeous I really mean it’s gorgeous.  She quickly grabbed it from me and said ‘it’s mine’.  Moments later I found these Trina Turk black slacks that have a satin paisley pattern trim around the waist, I can’t say gorgeous again so I’ll go with spectacular.   Umie tried the clothes on when we returned to my house,  when she sashayed out from the bathroom , she looked like the damn Queen of Sheba.  She looked at me and said ‘ can you frigging believe this?’  She looks like a million damn Euros and it would be a crime to tell you what she paid for this.  Don’t forget to shop at The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also please enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel

Tory Burch beaded tank top with Yumi Mazao skirt.

It’s so rare to find Tory Burch at a thrift store but when you have Lady Luck at your side everything is possible.  Tory Burch is an attainable, luxury, lifestyle brand defined by classic American sportswear with an eclectic sensibility, which embodies the personal style and spirit of its founder and creative director, Tory Burch.  Tory Burch was launched in 2004 as a lifestyle concept with multiple product categories, including ready to wear, handbags, shoes and jewelry.  Celebrity fans include Cameron Diaz, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Lopez, Uma Thurman and Hillary Swank.  You have to click on the photo that shows an up close image of the bead work on the tank, it’s so bewitching.  When I found this piece Umie’s tongue started to wag and I had to wipe the drool from my shoe.  Umie needed a bottom to go with that sensational top and what better bottom than a little something something French than this Yumi Mazao skirt?  This ensemble looks like she could go from board room to having dinner at Daniel in New York in a New York second.  Nothing says chic more than style.  Please stop in The Thrifters Boutique and follow me on Twitter & Facebook, also enjoy my YouTube videos on thrifting.  Toodles for now.  Daniel
