How many Burberry coats are enough?

Yesterday I scored myself another Burberry rain coat within minutes of walking into one of my favorite thrift stores. I do mean minutes! I was really ecstatic actually because this rain coat was khaki green and the other two I own are tan. So I said to myself “I can use another Burberry coat especially since it was marked for $11.29″. Driving home I asked myself just how many Burberry coats do I need hanging in my closet? I rationalized buying this coat because of it’s color. So I guess the outcome of this story is I actually do need 3 Burberry coats, for now! Time to shop. Toodles for now. Daniel

501 jeans and Italy.

I have no idea why I am so drawn to things designed in Italy. I guess my love for them attracts them into my life. It has to be that Law of Attraction thing and let me tell you I am so grateful. My first stop was the Value Village near my house where I found this simple alabaster box and inside there was a matching ashtray. On the continent of Europe, the centre of the alabaster trade is Florence, Italy. As luck would have it there is a tiny golden sticker on the side that says “Made in Italy” and priced at $3.03. This is going to make the perfect Christmas gift. My second stop today I scored these almost brand new Levi 501 black jeans for $5.00, they retail for $59.50 on Levi’s website. Maybe I should pack up these 501 jeans and head off to Italy, well I can always dream. Toodles for now. Daniel

Giorgio Armani wool sport jacket.

What pops out at me while I’m shuffling through racks of coats, blazers and jackets are these magical words, “Made in Italy” or “Made in France”. Those words are music to my ears ! So you can only imagine my delight when I ran into this Giorgio sport jacket the other day. It is made of the finest Italian wool and fits me to perfection. Once I get it dry cleaned it might just become my new favorite coat, ( don’t tell Karl) . The jacket was priced at $8.29, retail this would be $855 and way up, so I saved myself $846.71. With that savings I could book a ticket down to Buenos Aires. Toodles for now. Daniel

Isaac Mizrahi not from Target.

Isaac Mizrahi made an appearance at The Step Up Society Thrift Store this morning, or shall I say his jacket did. This jacket was made in Italy and comes from his high end line. We are so used to hearing these 4 words, “Isaac Mizrahi for Target”, that we forget he still designs a high end luxury clothing line. In fact just a few weeks ago he debuted his Spring 2010 collection during the New York Fashion Week. Inside the pocket of this jacket was the original price tag from Barneys New York priced at $835.00. I of course paid $5.50 for it. I then spotted this beautiful silver belt, priced at $1.75, and grabbed it. I would love to see this jacket with a pair of Rag & Bone black leather legging. That would be so fantastic. Ermenegildo Zegna shirt & sweater in one swoop.

I had a tad bit of lady luck with me yesterday as I gathered up 2 really beautiful Ermenegildo Zegna items. The first thing I collected was the Zegna Sport sweater marked at $4.29, when Zegna diversified into the Zegna Sport it included jackets, knitwear, beachwear, accessories, shirts and even denim with innovative, durable and exquisite fabric developments. The second item I found was the casual light blue shirt marked at $3.29. Together these 2 items will look very stylish and for only $7.58 how could I have gone wrong? Toodles for now. Daniel

Vintage Bill Blass worthy enough for Rachel Zoe.

I came across this drop dead gorgeous vintage Bill Blass dress at Cathedral of St. Philip Thrift House priced at $11.50. I immediately plucked it from the rack and walked into a dressing room, not to try it on, so I could take some photos. One person came to my mind who would absolutely DIE for this, Rachel Zoe. She really would go BANANAS for this vintage frock. Any woman for that matter, with great design sense, would buy this $11.50 vintage Bill Blass, cinch a belt around their waist, slap some fabulous Manolo Blahnik boots on and call it a day. You can take what might look like ” an old ladies dress” and totally give it a modern touch. I have to keep shopping. Toodles for now. Daniel

Wallabees and Worth.

While I was out hitting some thrift stores yesterday I came across these brand new Clarks Wallabees women shoes size 10. Seeing these shoes took me down memory lane, when I was in high school in NOWHERE land Texas back in 1982, I owned a pair of these shoes( except mine were mens!) They were expensive then, just like when Calvin Klein introduced his denim jeans back in 1980 and they retailed for $45 and oh yes I had 2 pair of them! These shoes were amazingly comfortable and stylish then and still are. So when I saw them I had to snatch them up especially since they were only $5.00. Later I saw this gold leather belt by a company called Worth, made in Italy, that I just had to have. Again with the women’s wear???…… Who can pass up an Italian belt for $1.75? No one I know. Toodles for now. Daniel
