Gianfranco Ferre charcoal satin slacks with Bill Blass.

I was making this day, a day to run errands and get my life somewhat pulled together when I just had to pull into one of my favorite thrift stores Cathedral St. Philip Thrift. I walked in and from the corner of my eyes I see this gorgeous coat that made my head do one of those cartoon double takes, know what I’m talking about?? I walked over to feel the rich textured fabric and see the label Bill Blass. In 2007 a company acquired Bill Blass and the designer that succeeded Mr. Blass successfully relayed the image and legacy of the brand while bringing their own signature style to each collection. The coat was priced at $15.00. Then my eagle eyes spotted these drop dead ultra chic Gianfranco Ferre satin slacks. I know I took a crappy photo of the slacks but trust me here, if I could squeeze my cheeks into those slacks I would ! Ferre was formally trained as an architect and launched his first collection in 1978. After Ferre’s death in 2007, Lars Nilsson was brought on as creative director for less than a year before being replaced by Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi in April 2008. These slacks were priced at $6.00 and at that point I just had to call my friend Sloan up and said “Get your ass to St. Philip there is a Bill Blass coat and Ferre slacks you must have NOW.” Sloan would wear both items with such style and grace, she would hit the ball out of ballpark. So if you happen to see Sloan wearing this Bill Blass vintage coat, tell her thank you for finding it a new home. Toodles for now. Daniel
