Balenciaga tags should never say "Made in Hong Kong" !

Atlanta

I went out today thinking I would score at least one thing from the thrift stores but nada. There was this fabulous blue dress shirt from Balenciaga and when I found it you should have seen my face, I tell you it was the same expression I had when I found my Lagerfeld jacket. I love me some Balenciaga and the only other item I have found from that brand is a tie and I was foolish enough to give that away to someone I know isn’t loving it like I would. Getting back to the shirt I was so delighted especially when I tried it on and it fit my body like it was custom tailored and then I looked at the label again and it said Balenciaga made in Hong Kong. Balenciaga manufactures their clothes in either Italy or France but not Hong Kong. I put it back on the hanger and walked away feeling like I had been robbed. I know what you’re thinking and your right I am a label snob. I don’t do knock offs very well, you know when you think of all the expensive high end brands hanging in my closet I just figure why bother with a imitation. You know that old saying “measure twice and cut once” well the moral of this story is check your labels twice and purchase once! Toodles for now.

I tried Last Chance today and boy was it a mad house! I got a Ralph Lauren suit, some Delman shoes, and a couple other little things, but I think that VV is better for designer thrift. Just my opinion….

Hi frugal hostess you are so right I love Last Chance especially on Mondays. It's always so crowded but always so much fun, there is so much energy in the air at LC. Sounds like you scored today with the items you got. Do you ever hit Step Up cause its either a total hit or total miss but I always go there cause you never know. Thanks for your opinion and for finding our blog. Your rock.

It's so funny you would say that, because I can't find Step Up any more! I used to go there, but now I have forgotten where it is (which I realize makes me sound extra crazy but what can I say). Denver, CO is my favorite city for thrifting. I once bought a Burberry rain coat there for $10, which I wear as much as possible!

Hi Frugal Hostess,Step Up is located at Ponce de Leon and Monroe, it's behind what used to be a SunTrust bank. It's near the intersection and parking is horrible so since the bank is closed you can park in their parking lot which makes life so much easier. Love Denver but didn't thrift when I was there 2 years ago, I think I might have missed something…Great score with the Burberry coat. At the Attic Treasures in Chamblee a few years ago I found a brand new Burberry trench coat, BRAND NEW for $7, I sold it on ebay which I regret but still have 2 Burberry coats hanging in my hall closet. Shop hard !Daniel
